Fully independent flat in 17th C stone farmhouse ideal for couple or small family. Comprises double bedroom, living room (both with oak beams), kitchen and bathroom. There is a large garden for the use of guests with table and chairs for outside dining. Despite the wonderful scenery of the Apennines, the famous cuisine of Emilia-Romagna, the proximity of marvellous medieval towns such as Bologna and Mantua, the area is virtually unvisited by foreign tourists. Within an easy drive (90 minutes) are Parma, Mantua, Verona, Bologna and Padua, while Florence and Venice can be reached in 2 - 2 1/2 hours. A micro brewery (White Dog) is situated on the premises and is the only brewery in Italy producing cask-conditioned Real Ale.

Guiglia is in the Apennines roughly half way between Modena and Bologna. (We are in the locality of Rocchetta just 3km from the Guiglia village centre.) Nearest motorway exits are Modena Sud (to the West) and Bologna Casaleccio (to the East). Tuscany lies to the South with Piemonte, Lombardy and the Veneto to the North.

Comfortable and Cosy

This little house is just lovely. We chose it as a base only, as we travelled out each day of the week we stayed there. However, it was always really nice to return to on an evening as it was so quiet, comfy and relaxing. It has everything in you need except a TV but for the first time, we relaxed and enjoyed the peace and tranquillity instead. Steve and Kelly the owners live upstairs which is nice, they are so friendly and they speak excellent Italian in case of an emergency or any language problems. They make you feel extremely welcome. For dog lovers, this is a great place to stop. They love dogs, have one of their own and a couple of little friends that come up to visit each day. As long as your dog is friendly, there is ready made friends waiting to play. Also, we had complete free use of their wireless internet which was a great help too. If your visiting Northern Italy this is the place to stay. My Husband says their beer's great too!
