Ceriana is situated 9 miles inland from the beautiful & cosmopolitan resort of San Remo. It has authentic food shops, a cafe/a bar/2 restaurants within 5 mins walk of the house. There are 2 other restaurants about 5 - 10 mis drive away. It is approached via a good, winding mountain road, which is wide in most places and has barriers. The wonderful greenhouses, with a variety of plants grown for export throughout the world, are to be seen on the way up from the coast. Ceriana, a real working village, is home of the renowned 'Crespi Figli' olive oil, sold in Harrods! The people are welcoming and charming. Our neighbours are lovely and always willing to help our guests. San Remo is famed for its shopping, casino and restaurants. It also has a marina and a great market on Saturdays and Tuesdays. The aquarium in Monaco is well worth a visit too. In the season, there is also whale watching. Nice airport is about 1 hour to the West & Genoa within 2.5 hours drive to the East.

There is an extract fan and a bathroom cabinet. The room is fully tiled. The hot water heater is also located in this room. There is also a large portable gas heater for when it's particularly cold. The fridge is integrated and has a small freezer compartment. The upper bedroom is situated on a completely different level from the second bedroom, which is located two floors below. Sadly, the house is not suitable for children, the elderly or infirm due to its location and layout inside (stone steps). Neither would it be suitable for teenagers who are looking for more activities at night. Parking is free in one of the 3 car parks in the village, then it's on foot via the Medieval pathways; some are steep so good shoes to be worn when traversing them. The pathways are lit all night long and clean. Please provide your own beach towels. Recommended for couples who like walking, traditional food & seeking a romantic, fascinating mountain setting.

Ligurian perfection

mcvmad Leyburn, North Yorkshire, UK
Review Submitted: August 5, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
Having visited Ceriana a few years ago, we knew it would be a lovely town, but we were completely overwhelmed by the view from the house, the tranquil, beautiful and friendly square, the decor and appointment of the house and everything else. The walking around Ceriana is fantastic and unspoilt and the public transport system excellent if you don't have a car. All of the shops, bars and restaurants in town have a lovely understated charm. The whole experience was about as good as it gets.
Owner's Response: We are delighted with the excellent feedback received from our guests in North Yorkshire who enjoyed the whole experience and are pleased that the holiday lived up to their expectations.

Iydillic Mountain village retreat

Wayne & Kez Tamworth, Staffordshire, UK
Review Submitted: November 3, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
This property is fantastic and every bit as good as the photos suggest. The house is surprisingly spacious, very clean and well equipped and although the balcony at the rear is relatively small the views are absolutely stunning. Ceriana itself is also a beautiful medieval village and everyone we came across was so friendly and polite. The owners description and supporting information was accurate and very comprehensive. There are some great coastal towns and beaches all within a relatively easy drive including the cosmopolitan centre of San Remo and of course Monaco - I would have no hesitation in recommending this as a superb holiday base and hope to return again in the future - enjoy!
Owner's Response: Thank you so much to Kez & Wayne for a glowing review of our holiday home. It's great to know that the Holiday Rentals site really does attract the right person to the right property, so the holiday lives up to expectations. Look forward to welcoming you both again to Ceriana.

One of the friendliest places I've been to!

Review Submitted: October 20, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
The house in Ceriana is beautiful, quaint, comfortable, romantic - whatever your desire, it fits, with all of the facilities one could need. The village itself is amazing, and the neighbours to No. 17 were the friendliest and most welcoming people I have ever encountered. We arrived, unknowingly, on the feast day of San Andrea, so we spent the evening of our arrival and the following day at a huge party! We were welcomed with open arms by everyone, so that we really felt like long lost cousins. We were granted the opportunity to experience village life in the most wonderful way. I sincerely hope to return to Ceriana in the near future, and would hope to stay at No. 17 again.
The owners described the property thoroughly and accurately, and we would have no doubts about staying there again, or recommending it to friends and family. Yes, there were steps, but we were aware of them before our visit and thus prepared.
The location of the village is close to many and varied sights, which are easily accessible by public transport. This could be useful to the faint hearted, as the roads are narrow and twisty. Once inside Ceriana, however, it would be very tempting not to leave, and there is no real need to do so, as there are grocers and green grocers, as well as bars a bank and a post office and such like - everything one could need.
Thank you Chris and Ria and the people of Ceriana for a memorable visit.

Ancient Brit but living in Australia.

Under the Ceriana spell

Ken and Debbie Emsworth, Hampshire, England
Review Submitted: April 28, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
We have just returned from our second visit to Ceriana and it certainly won't be our last. The house is perfect - exceptionally comfortable and the attention to detail is fantastic. Ceriana is a very special place - incredibly friendly people and wonderful scenery. We had explored the local area on our previous trip last year but this time the car remained parked; there was enough to do exploring the surrounding hills during the day and enjoying the local hospitality in the evenings.
Owner's Response: We are delighted by Ken and Debbie's comments about the house and very much look forward to welcoming them back. It's always a pleasure to have guests who are as passionate about the place as we are.

A really lovely apartment beautifully furnished with stunning views. The climb up is not for the infirmed as it is very steep. The locals were friendly and welcoming and it is if you are looking for a romantic retreat from the world.
