The steep and narrow rocky ledge near Portofino harbour is one of the jewels in Europe’s crown and is among the most exclusive residential areas throughout Italy. On this grassy rock, we find the Villa Portofino (see photo, white arrow). This gigantic rock, towering up from the water, is shared with a couple of other villas, the Castello Brown, a lighthouse and the famous church above Portofino. A private lift brings you down to the famous harbour of Portofino - the fine harbor, where grand yachts lie at anchor, where VIPs stroll along the promenade, where exquisite fish restaurants and elegant designer shops decorate the picturesque bay.

Notes to the rental rates

• Bed, bath and kitchen linens, linen changed twice a week (Wednesday and Saturday),water, electricity, gas, maid service 8 hours per day 6 days per week, final cleaning all included in the price. Special offer all year: 10% discount if the villa is rented by 6 people only.
  Included in the price is a standard first dinner:
  Standard dinner on your first evening, after a long trip. It consists in a dinner that the guests will find ready in the kitchen and which will be served to the guests. The menu can fit vegetarian guests too. No changes are possible for the first dinner. Basically it consists in a pasta al forno, a vegetable tarte, salad, and fruit. Bread, water and wine are included.
  Reservations from Saturday to Saturday only.
  Maximum 3 children under 15 years allowed (babies under 1 year not included).
  
• Security deposit, utility deposit, heating, mobile phone, telephone, Internet, additional bed to be paid in euros on the premises:
  Security deposit: EUR 1000.
  Utility deposit (unused portion of the utility deposit will be refunded in cash on departure): EUR 300 per week for heating.
  Heating (if required): metered.
  Mobile phone: pre-paid cards available at your own expense.
  Telephone: only local calls possible.
  Internet dial-up line: metered.
  Additional bed if maximum capacity PAX is exceeded: EUR 150 per week.
  Baby bed if maximum capacity PAX is exceeded: EUR 100 per week.
  Pets allowed: EUR 60 domestic pet supplement per week. If you plan to bring your dog, please fax us the completed and signed form Declaration Of Accepting Responsibility For Your Pet together with your registration form.
  Upon request and approval of the owner a late arrival is possible between 7.00 pm and 9.00 pm at an extra fee: EUR 50.
  
• Extra services available on request, to be specified when booking and to be paid in euros on the premises at the end of each working day:
  Advanced grocery shopping.
  Cook service for dinners during your stay.
  Transfer service.
  Porter service (to be requested directly by the customer to the owner - please see below).
  Porter service available on Saturdays from 4.00 to 6.00 pm for the check-in and from 9.00 to 10.00 am for the check-out. This service must be requested previously by the customer directly to the property owner/key holder and is bounded to a time agreement.

The Interior:

Main floor: 1 living room with large glass sliding doors, leading to the pergola, 1 dining room, 1 kitchen (stove with oven, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine), 1 study, 2 double rooms, 1 twin-bed room, 1 single room, 2 bathrooms (one with bath, the other with shower), cloakroom. The furnished pergola is a wonderful place for enjoying an outdoor meal. Lower floor: 1 twin-bed room, 1 bathroom (bath) and the bedroom + bathroom belonging to the housemaid, 1 utility room. The lower floor is generally used for children, the main floor for adults, since the latter has the more attractive rooms.

Some Details

Despite the proximity of the colourful and lively harbour of Portofino, the villa is tucked away and protected from the crowds: the house has private access to the sea and can hardly be seen from the road. As always with Portofino, it is best to arrive with a large yacht. If this is not possible, take the train to Santa Margherita and then a taxi to Portofino. Portofino has a small grocery store; the Santa Margherita grocery store can deliver goods to the villa. Although the house is situated high above the sea (20 m), the water is within walking distance: a private flight of 112 steep stone and wood steps leads down to a rocky platform. Just the place for sliding into the water to cool off after a sunbathe.
