Palazzetto

Come and enjoy the long warm evenings under the pergola running along our 19th century country house and taste the wine from our characteristic cellar. You can relax in the long garden which slopes down to an ancient Franciscan monastery still in use. You may have your meals either inside the house or outside in the garden. The accommodation to rent consists of one flat on the ground floor and two other bedrooms each with its own bathroom on the first and second floors. These can be rented together or just in part. The owners, one of whom is English, also live in the house and are happy to advise and help their guests in any way.

If you choose this unit you will have on the ground floor the apartment (a double bedroom, a newly renovated bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and a living room with French windows opening out onto the garden). On the first floor or second floor you will also have a double bedroom with its own bathroom. The bedroom is connected to the flat by a staircase. You will have the exclusive use of all that you rent.

For those who enjoy hiking there are many good walks (On Montevecchia, at Sartirana, along the River Adda and in the Alps). For those who enjoy sight-seeing it is possible to visit the attractive lakeside villages. If you would like to know a very romantic story (The Betrothed by Alessandro Manzoni), which describes our area, we will explain it to you.

We will be very pleased to give you any tourist information you require and take you on our guided tour.

Quiet traditional home on the outskirts of Milan

We had a very warm reception by Felicity and Andrea. The rental is as described, with an apartment on the ground level where we stayed, with small but adequate kitchen, and a bedroom/bathroom on the floor above where our two boys stayed. The furnishings are modest, but the unit was clean. Felicity and Andrea were very responsive, checking in on us, going out of there way to provide recommendations (e.g. tips for traveling into Milan or Bergamo) as well as accommodating the needs of our boys (Andrea removed the bolt to their bedroom so they couldn't accidentally lock themselves in).
Good value for the money, considering the cost of accommodations in Milan, and excellent communication leading up to our stay.

Great hospitality

We stayed here for 10 nights and are very enthousiastic about this palazzetto. The owners, Felicity and Andrea showed great hospitality during our stay in Merate. Andrea loved to teach our sons Italian. Felicity was very helpfull in showing us where to go round lake Como. We learned a lot of the history of Lake Como and his cities. Lake Como is very beatiful and a city trip to Milan is very easy by train (Merate has his own train station).

If we go to Como again, we will stay for sure in this beatifull Palazzetto, with their lovely owners!!!!!

Experiencing Lombardy

Just got home after a very nice and rewarding week in The Palazzetto.
Merate is a charming town and well situated for going to several places worth while seeing; Milan, Bergamo, Como etc and all the picturesque villages of the magnificent region of Lake Como. Traveling by trains and busses is inexpencive and easy.
Felicity and Andrea were the most kind and helpful hosts sharing useful and interesting information with enthusiasm as well as helping in any practical matter. Grazie!

Wonderful family accommodation

We stayed at the Palazetto B&B with our family of 6. We had 3 bedrooms each with its own bathroom plus a living room and kitchen. The beds were very comfortable. It was perfect. We could cook for ourselves or go out. The local restaurants are excellent. This is an wonderful place to stay. Felicity and Andrea are very friendly and helpful.
