The setting is a botanical paradise as well since the property is surrounded by well-maintained, terracing gardens with mature specimen plants, palm trees and perennials. The property includes 4 stone patios at different heights, and 2 large terraces off the bedrooms and living room facing the lake, all affording breathtaking views of the water and Alps. In 2008, a new scenic walkway on the lake passes near the property, giving the guest access to restaurants and the lakeside village of San Vito. A separated guest house with the 3rd bedroom/WC is included. Famous villas, gardens, sites, restaurants, shopping, golf and more are a 10-15 min drive.

Notes to the rental rates

• If you book more than one year before you arrive, take 10% off stated rental rates and split payment into 3 parts.
  
• Please add 80 Euros for final cleaning.
  Daily rentals available except 2 weeks around Xmas & Easter, and May 10 - Sept.12 '08. There is a 2 night min. stay - for stays of 2 nights only please add 60 Euros for key pick-up & escort and orientation to house.
  Rates are for 1-4-person occupancy. Please add 15 Euro/day per extra person above 4. Rates include linen, utilities and starter kit (laundry and dishwasher detergents, coffee filters, toilet paper, etc.). 350 Euro Refundable Security Deposit. Optional: 100 Euro per week to rent boat buoy 25m in front of house. 14 Euro/hour for extra cleaning on request.

Golfing

Italy's oldest golf course, established in 1907 (celebrating 100 years in 2007) with 18 holes Par 70, is located above Menaggio in near Croce, in Grandola ed Uniti, approx. 15 min. by car. The clubhouse/restaurant was the location of a recent party for well-known celebrities. Tel: 0344/32103. Green Fees: Weekdays 50 Euros, Weekends and Holidays 65 Euros; Golf Cart Rental 36 Euros. Skiing

The closest major ski resort is Madesimo toward the Splugen Pass, which is approx. 1 hour by car. St. Moritz in Switz. is only 89 km from the house (1hr 45min drive). Other ski resorts are located in the Valtellina near Morbegno. The lake is beautiful to relax next to all year long - the scenery in the winter is some of the most striking, as the air is crisp and the visibility near perfect.

You can also contact us for a web site address for a Lake view web cam located 300m south of the house where there is also some of the best windsurfing on the lake. Sail boats (with and w/o captain) can be rented and sailing lessons are given at a number of different sailing schools around the lake. Motorboats can be easily rented in Dongo at Rent A Boat, a superb service where you can enjoy boating without a license if you rent a boat with an engine that is 40HP or less. Rents are done by the hour, half day or week. A buoy in front of the house on the lake can be rented for an additional 100 euros per week.
