Shops and Markets:
Montalto has a population of about 2700 and is well catered for with a selection of shops. These include a patisserie, bank, post office, grocers, two butchers, fishmonger, fresh pasta shop, tobacconist, opticians (we offer 15% discount cards on all sunglasses in the opticians exclusively to our visitors), jewelers (with 12% discount cards, again exclusively to our guests), and a DVD store.
There is a local market in Montalto on a Wednesday morning that offers a wide variety of fresh Italian produce - the smells are bound to get your tastebuds going. There is also a market in San Benedetto on Tuesday and Friday with a further market in Grottamare on a Thursday.
On the outskirts of Ascoli Piceno there are a couple of large hypermarkets that are well worth a visit and have a number of boutiqes.
Restaurants and Bars:
Food is a major ingredient of the Italian lifestyle. Montalto is no exception to this rule has three bars all of which serve light lunches (sandwiches and light snacks). There is also a pub in the old town which serves evening food - the stuffed olives and various pasta dishes are particularly nice.
The local pizzeria, Quattro Venti, serves wonderfully satisfying multiple course lunches at a very reasonable price and in the evenings they serve superbly large, thin and tasty pizza. You will even receive a free 1/2 litre of wine here if you produce one of our business cards - this is another exclusive offer that we have arranged on behalf of all our guests.
If you want to try a massive selection of local specialities then Due Pini is the place to visit. The food just keeps on arriving at the table - we counted 20 separate dishes on our last visit so be warned - have a light lunch if you are planning to visit in the evening and best of all it won't break the bank!
