Restored apartment with panoramic views, near Camerino, Macerata, Marche
“La loggia del duca” belongs to the Marchetti family and it is just 45 minutes away from the sea to the east and the high mountains to the west. The old mansion and the adjoining dove-cot tower, date back to the XIV century and now offer the perfect setting for a romantic getaway or a family holiday. They were respectively the residence of the Da Varano Knights and the sight tower. An architectonic feature of these and of other local historical buildings is the use of the fine sandstone blocks. The fortress complex is located on high ground from where it is possible to admire the evocative S. Francesco monastery (with important paintings by the Camerino school) and Beldiletto castle (the Da Varano family’s summer residence). All around, the territory offers historical and artistic buildings like the medieval centre of Pievebovigliana a few minutes drive away, with its paleochristian crypt.

We are situated in the great natural beauty of the Sibillini Mountain national park, where visitors can enjoy hikes of varying degrees of difficulty, including rock-climbing, or just a simple stroll. Fifty minutes' drive away is the Adriatic coast with its miles sandy beaches or, a little further north, the dramatic cliffs and beaches of Monte Conero. Nearer by are the pure mountain waters of Lake Fiastra. Within one or two hours' drive are attractive cultural centres such as Assisi, Macerata, Loreto, Perugia, Spoleto, and Ascoli Piceno with its shining travertine streets, and numerous others. In the little towns around there are many enchanting artistic gems waiting to be discovered, in museums, galleries and churches. All through the summer, traditional fairs and fetes enliven the villages. Restaurants both simple and haute cuisine provide a taste of the superb local wines and food, lovingly prepared with local produce.
