This self-catering property stands on the hillside of Monte Franco and was completely renovated and restored in 2001. The self-catering farmhouse accommodation is on two floors, having a spiral staircase to the upstairs bedrooms, (one single and one double) and bathroom. Downstairs there is a twin-bedded room and bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped with fridge freezer, cooker, microwave and dishwasher.There is a dining area and a sitting room with a wood burning stove for colder weather. With spectacular views of the Sibillini Mountains and the stunning countryside of Le Marche, Casa Monte Franco is set in a hectare of land with olive groves and fig trees. The house enjoys full sun and uninterrupted views. There is a large outside seating area ideal for dining and sunbathing. Less than an hour's drive from both the Sibillini Mountains and the golden beaches of the Adriatic, it provides an ideal base for both beach lovers and walking enthusiasts.

Tourist Attractions. : Le Marche remains as yet untouched by large number of tourists unlike Tuscany and Umbria. Marcerata the nearest town is famous for its open-air opera theatre, which takes place every year in the summer months. Loreto close by is the home of one of Catholic Europe's greatest shrines and fine Renaissance art. Close too is Recanati, home of Giacome Leopardi and Benjamino Gigli. The larger town of Urbino, birthplace of Raphael, is a 2 hour drive away as too are Assisi and Perugia. Rome is a 3 hour drive from Le Marche. For nature enthusiasts Monti Sibillini National Park is less than an hour's drive away. Here you can find a variety of wildlife including wolves and eagles and a spectacular collection of wild flowers. The Adriatic Coast with its stunning Monte Conero beaches and National Park is only 30-40 minutes away. Don't forget to try the superb fish restaurants on the sea front. The Frasassi Caves are also worth a visit.

At Home. : Because of the outstanding position that Casa Monte France boasts, the magnificent, breathtaking views never cease to amaze and please, it is an ideal retreat for both artists and writers alike. Although only 5 minutes by car to the nearest village (Pollenza or Passo de Treia), it feels very secluded and it is not overlooked. The old walled town of Treia is a 10 minute drive away. All these towns have a weekly market.

Other Attractions. : The Verde Azzuro Water Park is found at S. Faustino near Cignoli. An ideal day out for those with children. The Park boasts pools, slides, grand canyon river and water games.

Thanks. We had a wonderful holiday. It was our first time in Le Marche and it was very enjoyable - from a deserted sun baked beach in Civitanova to a frantic thunder and lightning show in the hills!

The pizza festival in Passo de Treia was also interesting. Despite the laid-back appearance they'd obviously put a lot of work into it and the fireworks display on the final night was excellent.

The house had everything we needed, especially the fresh figs for breakfast.

We had everything we needed and found the house very clean and comfortable.

Super house, fabulous views, well-equipped kitchen. Clean, tidy and good reading! Overall... fantastic value for money.

Undiscovered Italy!

Fabulous views - from the house and terrace - where we ate ripe figs warm from the sun, from the tree outside our window. Although an isolated property - it is within easy reach of charming walled hilltop towns for shops which catered for all our needs and where local people - without exception - were wonderfully friendly and welcoming! We really felt that this part of Italy is still unspoilt and we will be going back!

A Little Gem

This cute farmhouse is a little gem! Hidden away amongst the Olive trees, with fabulous views, beach just half an hour away, shops 5 minutes drive and everything we needed for a truly relaxing holiday available. We've been twice now and are going back again this year.

The house is well equipped, modern in amenities, private and idyllic. My sons (13 & 14) and I thoroughly enjoyed the home and loved relaxing on the terrace after a BBQ watching the night sky. There is plenty of room to relax and the fresh figs off the tree outside the bedroom window were delicious.The local town of Pollenza (less than a mile up the hill)has a very good market and supermarket for all our supplies. We found it to be about 30 mins from the beaches of the Adriatic - we tried them all and they were all good with clean sand, sea and facilities - loos, snacks, parking etc. The nearby town of treia has a range of restaraunts and shops. We went several times to a pizza place built in the wall as you approach the town and were welcomed by the ownwer and staff who were friendly and fun. We found it to be fantastic in terms of food, location and value. Surrounding we wnet to a few towns, the Frassassi caves were well worth a visit. We also caught the train to Rome - a 2 and a half hour trip. stayed over a night and had a great time. The rail fair was so cheap I had to look twice.
Overall the property is well located for both teh innner area of Marche, the beaches and longer trips to Rome. I would throroughly recommend the house and its location.
You need a car to get about but driving and fuel was easy as the roads were generally quiet.
