Macerata holiday villa: Castel san Pietro, near San Severino

The Locality: La Palombara is situated directly on the Verdicchio wine trail and close to the picturesque Lago di Cingoli with a large freshwater lake with swimming, pedalos and beach areas for sun-bathing. Other attractions include the famous limestone caves of Frasassi and the hilltop town of Cingoli, locally known as the 'Balcony of the Marche' because of it's extensive views over the centre of the region stretching from Senigallia in the North, past Monte Conero to Porto Recanati on the Adriatic coastline to the South.

The Accommodation: The open-plan ground floor has a spacious, comfortable living room with a terracotta tiled floor and beamed ceiling. There is an attractive log burning fire for cooler weather backed up by full central heating for winter use. There is a built-in bar area (we leave the stocking to you!), Mini hi-fi with CD player and Satellite TV. An archway leads through to the dining room with a fixed table comfortably seating 8 people and a well equipped kitchen with fridge, freezer, gas hob, electric oven, electric grill/mini oven. There are 4 bedrooms, two doubles - one with ensuite shower room, and two twin-bedded rooms. A second shower room contains a WC bidet, basin & shower. In the basement, accessible from outside, there is a utility room with washing-machine and sink and an additional toilet with wash hand basin - handy for when you are at the pool.

Outside: The large terraced garden has several seating areas surrounded by a wide variety of shrubs and trees providing sun and shade as required. The garden is bordered by a gentle stream around one side and has a large outdoor BBQ area. There is a large covered terrace for open air dining with pleasant views over the garden, and an adjacent 'Bocce' court (like the French game - boules) where you can try some gentle competitive sport!
