Further details for this holiday villa rental in Alba, Italy

One hour from Torino, escape into the bucolic hills of Piemonte. This beautiful 17th Century stone villa sits on three-point-six hectares (nine acres) at an altitude of 600 meters (1900 feet) near the small village of Bonvicino and four miles from Dogliani, in the heart of Piemonte. Sit on the balcony, sipping your morning coffee or enjoying a glass of wine at sunset while gazing out at the rugged and lush green mountain landscape. On clear days, enjoy spectacular views of the Alps. Villa di Bonvicino provides a perfect base for exploring the Piemonte region. Enjoy walking through Italian hill towns and vineyards, visit the well-known towns of Monforte D’Alba and Barolo (nine and 12 miles away).

Enjoy cooking in your peaceful apartment, dining al fresco, or choose from one of the region's many delicious restaurants. Local cuisine offers fresh regional dishes based on seasonal ingredients. The property is completely private, nestled in the Alta Langa hills. Just minutes from town (cafes, restaurants, shopping, cinema), you will feel peacefully secluded on this spacious property. Pick fresh herbs, apples and blackberries just outside your front door.

Walk directly from the house to view hawks, warblers, finches, sparrows, rabbits, deer, fox, coyotes, or drive to one of the many walks nearby. Local wineries abound, featuring the internationally acclaimed Barolo and Barbaresco wines. The nearby town of Alba is known as the home of the famous white truffle. Bra prides itself on being the heart of the Slow Food movement. Nearby Cherasco is known for its famous chocolate, as well as offering a cultural museum and film retrospectives. Horseback riding and swimming are just minutes away. Dogliani offers a choice of cafes where you can sample homemade Gelati, enjoy a cappuccino or stay for lunch or dinner. Shop at the local farmer's market on Tuesday or Saturday and visit the local pannetteria and pasticeria for your bread and dessert. Take a walk or drive to Bossolasco to sample their famous chocolates (including a variety of hot chocolate beverages) and views stretching over the entire region.

Other Activities: hiking, wine tasting, dining, safari park, tennis, horseback riding

Incredible Villa close to the best Food and Wine

Haidu Paris,France and Tel Aviv,Israel
Review Submitted: October 19, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
I would probably never be able to put in words the amazing piemotese vacation we had. Adoring its wines, cuisine, truffles and charm, we are traveling quite often to this beautiful region. Amazingly, it seems we have finally found the missing link - our "pied a terre" in the region. Clay & Tamar, the owners of a fascinating Villa near Bonvicino, and the Barolo region are an amazing couple. They were so nice as hosts, smiling, caring, well introduced, we felt like coming back home after our long journeys out in the vineyards and villages. the rooms are great, comfortable, spacious, the pool, the pizza oven, the silence, the discussions, did i already say home? I am already planning our visit next year in Piemonte, we will probably visit other wineries, search for new restaurants, but we already have our home.

luxury rooms in the middle of beautiful Piemonte

Janfrombelgium Belgium, Deinze
Review Submitted: September 9, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We stayed at San Lorenzo last week of august. That week we had no neighbors in other rooms so we had the whole compound for us. Everything was really OK, the selfcoocking kitchen, large flatscreen TV, internet, well equiped bathroom and bedrooms, fully equiped laundry.
This is a great place, to just relax and enjoy the beautiful weather. Nearby Dogliani is a typical Italian town, not yet spoiled by mass tourism, and offering all modern comfort. The best wine region of Italy (with the famous Barolo and Barbaresco wines, and the capital of the white truffel) are only a few km away. Not a surprise that slow food was invented here
If you are looking for a charming, relaxing stay, looking for good food and start your local search for italy's best wines. The region is also a challenge for sportive mountainbikers and cyclists.
A car is required to get around
Closeby Turin is worth a visit, and you're only one hour drive from the spectacular ligurian cost.

Where familiarity does not breed contempt

Review Submitted: April 1, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
The key word I would use to describe our stay is 'Familiarity'. Already, once you arrive, you feel that you are at home (and not just a holiday rental). Everything you need is provided for in more than just a minimal level. Clay and Tamar know the area so well that you start to understand the pace of life, and what makes this area tick. They showed us great places to eat and introduced us to interesting people. By the end of the stay, we felt like it was our home. This is when you want to return because it feels so familiar.

I have just spent a week here with my family and do not hesitate to recommend this beautiful hilltop villa. The views are stunning, the accommodation luxurious and spacious, the hospitality warm and friendly, the food and wine from the region delicious! Not only is it a great location for going out to discover the Piedmont region, heading to the mountains or to the coast, but also for staying in, unwinding and taking it easy. Don't hesitate to ask the owners for recommendations on where to eat and what to drink, they know the region and the people and can ensure you taste the best of Piedmont.

everything great

Review Submitted: March 9, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
Great food, great wine, great accommodations, great hosts; all added up to a great week in Italy. Our hosts were knowledgeable and gracious, guiding us to the best hill towns, vineyards and restaurants in the area. And at the end of every excursion we returned to our luxurious and comfortable rooms in Bonvicino. After watching the sun set over the vineyards on the opposite ridge, fantastic dinners were only a short drive away. Highly recommended in every way.
