This 250-year-old house occupies a beautiful and very sunny location on top of a valley opposite the medieval hilltop village of Castelnuova Calcea in the heart of the Piedmontese wine region. Casa Collina enjoys magnificent views all the way to the Alps and has been lovingly restored over three levels to provide accommodation in a idyllic setting. The garden includes a private 7.2x3.2 m swimming pool located on a very sunny private position surrounded by organic woodland including fruit trees in the middle of a well maintained lawn. Outdoor and inpool lighting complement a lovely outdoor spot perfect to enjoy the warm sunny evenings.

Casa Collina is located in stunning countryside in the heart of the Monferrato wine region. Many holiday lets boast of being ‘unspoilt’ or ‘away-from-it-all’ but Casa Collina really is in a beautiful part of Italy that is completely untouched by tourism. You really will be hard pressed to find other holidaymakers in this part of Piedmont. The area is lovely and hilly, covered in vineyards that are punctured by small hilltop villages, seemingly untouched since the Middle Ages. It truly is beautiful and makes for some amazing holiday photos. This landscape goes on for miles and on certain days, the Alps including Monte Blanc and Monte Rosa are clearly visible along most of the horizon. The international airports of Genoa and Turin are about 40 minutes away with Milans terminals another 20 minutes further.

  • There are 3 bedrooms on the first floor each with a balcony with fabulous views over the rolling countryside. The master bedroom is very large at over 37m2 and is lovingly restored complete with antique furniture and a lovely sunny balcony. Next to this room is the large master bathroom. On the first floor there is a further large double bedroom and a large bedroom with 3 single beds in it. Both share a beautiful large balcony with panoramic views and a well equipped bathroom. On the ground floor there is a double bedroom complete with en suite. All bedrooms have plenty of storage space in the form of wardrobes, chest of drawers and bedside tables.

Notes: The garden is split into two parts each offering beautiful settings which to relax in, dine and soak up the sun. The front of the house features a courtyard that is surrounded by trees and plants and offers a lovely area to relax and entertain whilst enjoying the stunning views. The hillside is a sun trap for most of the day and is where we have located the swimming pool. Surrounded by woods and on a beautiful large lawn offering panoramic views you can wind away the lazy hours in complete serenity in a secluded setting. Outdoor and inpool lighting means you can enjoy the warm evening into the early hours. The pool is a stunning addition to the house and is 7.2m long and 3.2m wide in a very sunny location opposite the house on the hillside.

Local Attractions: There are many local attractions that can be reached easily from Casa Collina including the roman towns of Acqui Terme and Asti, the Italian Riviera and the ski slopes of the Aosta Valley. With the long dry summers and mild winters, it is a beautiful place to visit all year round. With the Alps to the north, the beaches of the Italian Riviera to the south and plenty more in between, you would be hard pressed to find somewhere better located for things to do in Europe. Beach holiday, city break, ski trip, gastro-tourism, romantic away from it all – you can take them all in this beautiful Italian holiday farmhouse in south Piedmont.

Food and Wine: The main reason why people visit Piedmont is because of the exceptionally high quality of it's wine and cuisine. With arguably the best wine in Italy and the abundance of truffles found locally, there are plenty of gastro-reasons to take a break in Casa Collina. Almost every local restaurant has it's own speciality and you will find outstanding value for money in some of the best restaurants in Europe.

City Visits: Located in the centre of a triangle formed by Genoa, Turin and Milan, there are many other attractions to keep visitors entertained. Shopping in Milan, the cafes in Turin or the old port in Genoa offer many opportunities to diversify your visit to north-west Italy.

Ski: With views of the Alps on a clear day, it is of no surprise that you can use the house as a base to explore the ski resorts of Piedmont and Aosta. The Turin winter Olympics of 2006 showcased numerous resorts in Peidmont and they can all be accessed within a 2 hour drive. If you want a whole weeks skiing then this isn't probably the best located property you could find but if you want a days skiing followed by a days shopping in Milan or a day at the beach, this is not a bad villa to rent. Cervinia, Sestriere and Limone are all within 2 hours easy driving distances from Casa Collina.

Yet again it was a great trip away from London to a sunny place, and the swimming pool it`s just great, we haven`t move away from a pool for 3 days. Had a great and relaxing time.

Beautiful villa - so relaxing!

I chose this villa as I wanted a relaxing break, and I was not disappointed! The house itself is very well maintained with lovely large rooms which have windows and shutters - the master bathroom is gorgeous! While I went out and sampled some of the lovely local cuisine I also did plenty of cooking - the cooker and BBQ are very easy to use. The pool is just stunning, it is a great size, has amazing views across the sprawling countryside but it still completely private.

A fantastic relaxing break just reading, swimming, eating and drinking local wine!

I would certainly recommend this property!

Im not normally one to take the time to write reviews but i had such a great time i wanted to share this.

The house was beautiful, large bedrooms, fantastic kitchen where even I could cook! Even shot some pool! It genuinely was the most relaxing place ive ever been to. The pool has great views across the beautiful vine yards but is still secluded. My friend who recommended this place said how great the location is for day trips to Genoa, Milan and the mountains which ive no doubt it is but for me its just as great for relaxing, drinking the great local wines, eating the fresh local pasta and watching the world go by.

10/10 property (Try the bbq too is fab)

Lovely Holiday House

Stayed here for a wee trip out to the slopes last year. Loved the location of the house, very peaceful and close enough to go skiing to different places.
House was in good condition, very warm (considering how cold it was outside) and a great size. Loved the kitchen and the games rooms. Beautiful views. Shame we couldn;t use the pool, just too cold in December! Would go again and are looking to book for next year.

beautiful and relaxing

I must say I did enjoy stay at the house so is my wife and our little one.
We were so suprised how lovely and quiet place it is and a local restaurants serve a great food. Our 3 years old daughter just loved running on the grass and we didn`t have to stop her every time she run to far away from us because we felt there so safe and welcome.
Thank You definetly will go back again.
