Local Facilities

Mouth-watering trattorias and restaurants nearby (we provide list of recommendations). Beach at Miami (3 miles) and elsewhere around the lake. Boat trips on Lake Orta, rowing boats for hire in Orta San Giulio. Wonderful local walks (descriptions provided). 30 minutes drive to Stresa (Lake Maggiore) and the Isola Bella with its exotic terraced gardens. Excellent base for the entire Italian Lakes region. Day trips possible further afield to Milan, Turin, Maranello (Ferrari), and Bolzano (see the amazing 'ice man').

Getting There

The apartment is just 24 miles from Milan Malpensa airport, where many international flights arrive (including British Airways and British Midland). You can also get ridiculously cheap flights from the UK with Ryanair to Turin (90 mins) or Milan Bergamo (90 mins), and with EasyJet to Milan Linate (60 mins). These airports have all the main car hire companies.
