The Villa is situated on a private road at the waters edge, close to the town of Orta san Giulio, the small “capital” of the Lake. Completely renovated inside last year, there is a spacious master bedroom, a large living room with sofa beds and dining area, separate small kitchen and bathroom with tub/shower. The Darsena best feature is the terrace, which feels like a balcony on a cruise ship. The terrace is equipped with table and chairs ideal for breakfast in the sun and romantic evening dining. The ancient village of Orta possesses a charm and a fascination, that are difficult to describe, it is the pearl and the heart of the lake. The lack of cars together with old houses with granite portals and wrought iron gates, the small lanes, the inside yards and the small shops will take you back to the past. Orta is enchanting , largely unchanged for centuries with typical cobbled streets and archways with plenty of bars, and restaurants of all types. The pace of the village is slow and unhurried and is a perfect place to spend your holiday. Everything you need for a relaxing time

We spent a wonderful week during May 2009 at La Darsena. The property description is very accurate, it was clean and the customer service was excellent. The location is indeed rare and peaceful, the view is beautiful and the house has all the facilities needed for a comfortable holiday. We particularly enjoyed the privacy and the possibility to make a barbeque. The walk along the lake to the town of Orta San Giullio is a pleasure and enable you to admire the beautiful villas. We will surely be back!

I cannot wait to return

I visited Darsena some years ago with my (then) teenaged sons. They absolutely loved it. They swam like fish, with the fish. I do not know if the rowing boat is still there, but they spent hours rowing out into the lake. I was able to sit and read and get a well-earned break.

Orta is simply beautiful. And not overcrowded, even in the height of August. Unless of course, many others have now discovered this jewel so beloved of poets.

The location and presentation of the villa is lovely - nothing pretentious, but everthing that you need (and this was before the renovation.) I have recounted stories of our stay there to anyone who will listen and genuinely cannot wait to return. It is so very special a place that I would only wish to share it with someone very close to me.

Following clear and concise directions from Milan we ended up curiously decending down a tree covered unmade lane to the waters edge. There before us was a beautiful house, perfect for two for the week.
The views across the lake were superb. The surrounding scenery specatular.
This is the perfect get-a-away.
Simple, affordable and very beautiful.

My second visit to La Darsena. For me it is the perfect place to be.Peace and quiet.
Sit on the balcony and relax. The view is awesome. In August it is warm but not over hot. As the property does face East and has shelter at the back.The villa is clean and well maintained. With new bed this time. Though needs a new mattress !!
The lake is also great for swimming. Swam with an Otter a few times.
The town is so relaxing too. Plenty of choice for food and there was a very good singer when we were there. As passionate as the Italians are.
Most nights we ate out. During the day we would have a light lunch in peace on the balcony.
The town is very historical and a pleasure to see.
For me the perfect holiday and would recommend to anyone who needs to relax and enjoy ,sun,people,views and good food.
Recommended for:  Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway

Supertof uniek huisje voor wie graag volledig in de natuur en vlak aan het Ortameer wil zitten. Je kan rechtstreeks vanuit het huis het meer in zwemmen of erin met je bootje.
Er is ook veel buitenruimte bij het huis. Doordat het afgelegen is moet je zeker over een wagen beschikken en voor boodschappen en wandelingen moet je wat verder. Het keukentje is klein maar praktisch. Het keukenmateriaal is beperkt.
Het balkonterras is prachtig. Zeer geschikt voor natuur- en rustliefhebbers, ook voor bergwandelingen en stadsbezoeken in de buurt.
De verhuurders gaven veel informatie, alles op de site klopt, supergoede service, ook ter plaatse.
