Lovely apartment

The apartment is in an old building just around the corner from the Santa Maria di Trastevere piazza, a five to ten minute walk from the nearest bus stop/taxi rank. The area is lovely – cobbled streets, lots of cafés, restaurants and little shops. The area has a friendly, villagey atmosphere.
You enter the building through a graffiti covered door - don’t be put off, there’s a lot of graffiti in Rome! Up one flight of stairs and through another door to enter the apartment, the first thing you notice is the curving hallway (and if it’s hot outside, the air conditioning!).
Off the hallway is the bathroom, with a bidet, toilet, basin and shower. This is nicely decorated, with a big mirror over the basin and funky lighting above the shower. The towels provided were big, white and fluffy.
The bedroom is at the end of the hall, with a curved frosted wall and a sliding door into the hall. The far wall of the bedroom is old bricks in an arch shape, and the rest of the room is modern, with a huge double bed (firm but comfortable) facing the wardrobe, cupboards and large mirror.
Round the corner is the main sitting area of the flat, with the double sofa/bed, a table with two chairs, two windows and the kitchenette.
The kitchenette is basic, there are two gas rings, a microwave, fridge, sink and compact dishwasher. All the usual pots & pans, crockery and cutlery etc are provided.
Also provided are: a hairdryer, iron and ironing board, and cleaning materials, and a safe in the hall cupboard. There are also two flat screen televisions.
The whole apartment has obviously been renovated recently and is attractively decorated (lots of hidden/interesting lighting and a lovely tiled floor) and is very clean.
Criticisms? I don’t really have any, but my children did mention the opera singing buskers at the restaurant right outside the windows (literally RIGHT outside – you could check out what the people were having to eat from our windows!) but I thought that hearing the music in the evenings was a bonus … we didn’t eat at that restaurant (La Cisterna) but I believe it’s highly recommended.
I’d also recommend the pizzeria around the corner in Arco di San Callisto, lovely pizzas and the BEST calzone (according to my son). Oh, and the ice cream shop on the corner of Via della Cisterna … about ten paces from the apartment. Yum!
I recommend it whole-heartedly (& can’t wait to go back!).
