The village of Licenza:
The village of Licenza is at about 450m above sea level, set in a regional park. The scenery is exceptionally beautiful, consisting of wooded hills rising to mountains. There is a waterfall 100 metres from the house, from which starts the stream which flows throught the property all year round. Wild flowers and birds abound, including a golden eagle which nests 3 kms away, and there is hill walking in the whole area. In the village there is a tennis court, excellent trattoria, pizzerias and bars, baker, food shops and a small museum with the finds from Horace's Villa. The village is a pleasant walk from the houses or 2 minutes by car.
Transport:
A car is desirable. The centre of Rome is 45km and easy to visit for the day, the best way being from Tivoli station (13km)with a day return ticket which costs about €4.5, which includes full use of public transport within the city for that day. The trains are frequent and the journey takes between 35 and 65 minutes.
For those wishing to spend part of their holiday in the city and part in the countryside, we have accomodation ourselves in the centre, or can recommend pensioni or hotels at all levels.
