Agropoli holiday apartment: Agropoli

We found RAFFAELE to be the nicest possible landlord in many ways. He handled all the payments and deposit-return like a true Gentleman.
He kindly met our car on the outskirts of Agropoli and conducted us home so we didn't get lost. (It is an easy route, but only easy when you've been shown it once.)
The house is very grand with magnificent views over the BAY and HARBOUR towards the silhouetted castle and the sunset; and uphill behind the house across a FIG-GROVE where we saw FIRE-FLIES which fluttered up to our feet when we 'flashed' them. Magical. It feels remote and quiet, and the road and railway are faint in the distance.
The rooms in our apartment were extremely clean and light, with nice kitchen and plenty of crockery & cutlery. Parking on site.
The route from villa Leone directly to the sea gets you to the part of the sea-front best for restaurants - we recommend "ANNA'S" for GLUTEN-FREE (and it's not just a few options, everything on the large menu can be made either gluten-free or wheat-based on request) - we always ate outside on the verandah.
The OLD-TOWN on the next hill-top is really worth a stroll.
In our hire-car we explored POMPEII (not suitable for wheel-chair-users), and the Amalfi Coast. (AMALFI TOWN is exceptionally gorgeous, and so is their chocolate ice-cream, and the lemons are Enormous.)
Only 4km from Raffaele's is the Ancient Greek ruined city of PAESTUM (Poseidonia). We visited in the day and were glad we paid 6 euros for the museum, The grave-painting of the "Diver" is everywhere and the original is amazing. We then visited again late at night and ate a wonderful sea-food meal at "LA RUOTA DEL PAVONE" - the peacock's 'wheel' fan-tail - via Magna Grecia 949, the little road through the middle of Paestum, a newly established restaurant in an old country lodge-house. We sat at umbrella-tables in the heavenly garden under enormous trees, with the FLOODLIT TEMPLES just across the quiet little road.
We think there is a good beach close to the villa Leone, but we never visited it because we so loved TRENTOVA BEACH on the other side of Agropoli, and went there nearly every day. Soft, pale, gently-sloping sand, and perfect swimming.
We stayed 9 days in May, and had perfect weather for the English on holiday - warm and dry, but not oppressive heat (except one boiling day).
Our lasting impression of the holiday is our quiet mood as we took meals on our own villa Leone balcony, gazing out over the tranquil bay. x glen+juliet
