About Marzamemi
The fisherman’s cottage has been renovated with an eye to conserving the heritage of the local area. The house is situated right on the promenade of Marzamemi, which is an ancient fishing village in the extreme southeast of Sicily. From the terrace, there is an incredible view of the village, its small port and the vividly painted boats. The tradition of all things marine is still very much alive in Marzamemi today. Only recently has it become a popular destination for Italians who enjoy the combination of the area’s natural beaches and the vibrancy of an authentic coastal village. The village boasts many restaurants, pizzerias and shops selling delicious local produce such as locally caught and processed tuna and swordfish or the famous cherry tomatoes from nearby Pachino. Nearby: - Noto - ‘Vendicari’ natural reserve - The prehistoric caves in Pantalica - Portopalo/Capo Passero, the most southerly tip of Sicily - Syracuse - Modica - Ragusa Ibla.
Guestbook
'The setting of the cottage is about the most beautiful place we have ever been.' D.Dodd 'We enjoyed our stay in Casa del Pescatore and thought the location of the cottages was wonderful. Marzamemi is a pleasant village with plenty of restaurants to eat in (mostly only serving fish). Marzamemi, in the area of Casa del Pescatore, is generally quite quiet with the exception of Friday and Saturday night when it is busy and can be quite noisy. Marzamemi proved an excellent base to explore the region and we particularly enjoyed visits to Noto, Syracuse and the local nature reserve Vendicari.' Luc De Block
