Further details for this holiday villa rental in Modica, Italy

General Description: At the villa we have a secure full size play ground of 140 sq meters for the children to enjoy with lots of toys, plus 20 english TV cartoons channel...On January 2012 BBC 2 broadcasted a TV series Sicily Unpacked,Episode 2 was filmed right here in Modica,Andrew Graham-Dixon and Giorgio Locatelli took part of this fascinating journey through Sicily, Andrew and Giorgio explored the legacy of Spain's 500-year occupation of the island and the influence this has had on art and culture. And it's not only art that is experiencing a resurrection on the island but agriculture too: the wine, that only 20 years ago was considered only good enough for blending vats on the continent, is now one of the most fashionable in Europe and is being exported all over the world. The Villa is located on a strategic point: this part of Sicily has an abundance of art, archaeology, history, breathtaking scenery and of course wonderful food to offer. You will certainly be inspired by the brilliance and beauty of the town, by the stunning, secluded beaches, tranquil vineyards, ancient olive groves. And you can also explore Mount Etna, the greatest volcano of Europe, Catania, a splendid city lying between Etna and the Ionian Sea, Syracuse, with its temples, its Greek Theatre and Roman Amphitheatre, and its Ear of Dionysius, Ragusa, with its traces of human settlements dating from as early as the 3rd millennium BC. Or, if you prefer something really breathtaking, why not go to Agrigento and see the Valley of the Temples?Anyway, the list of wonders that are waiting for you is too long to be written here. But Villa Modica is a perfect choice even if you just decide to indulge your senses spending lazy afternoons and suntanning..

Inside the Villa: Inside, Villa Modica, is modern and comfortable. It comes with a fireplace, satellite television , screens on windows and three air conditioned bedrooms.

Maid service or a cook for an original Sicilian meal can be arranged at the time of booking.

Outside the Villa: From outside, the views are breathtaking, you may hear the peal of Modica's bells from a mile away and the closer tinkling of cowbells. Already old when the Greeks found it, Modica is a vibrant city of 50,000 that's filled with mysterious feasts, great restaurants, and ancient wonders. In the summer, the beach town of Marina di Modica, 20 min away is abuzz with night life. Also within 20 min are the catacombs of Cava d'Ispica and Baroque city of Noto. Modica offers this intense taste of Baroque with its splendid views, its treasures of art, its churches, its palaces, its decorated portals risen on the ruins caused by the great earthquake of 1696 which destroyed a large part of Sicily, particularly Modica. We have especially planned for small children and babies, particularly with regard safety. All access points to the pool have gates to keep young children outside of the pool area. Salt Water Pool no red eyes or chlorine smell. The pool is open all year long.Gas & Charcoal Weber BBQ.

Golf:

For golf lovers ,only 30 minutes away there is resort that has two 18-hole championship golf and practice range with 70 stations. Golf Academy with video systems, putting and pitching green. One of the 2 fields is a Gary Player signature course and the second 18 holes, Links, was designed by Franco Piras. Golf House with terrace bar / restaurant overlooking the golf facilities with changing rooms, storage golf carts, pro-shop, etc.

Mild winter and a hot dry climate and always windy in summer make it an ideal destination for the whole year offering unforgettable golfing experience.

Other Activities:

The pool has access from three points in the garden. All access points have gates to keep young children outside of the pool area.

Best value, and comfort. We highly recommend it. June, 2003

The villa was fantastic. We will definitely book again because the quality of the villa, the excellent cook and your helpfull staff made all the difference. July,2004

The hosts are amazing. They have a very well stocked house and they think of everything that you need. Spectacular view and beauty of the property in terms of the pool and gardens. Everything is very well maintained. This part of Sicily has stunning drammatic hills. Modica is a lovely friendly town, Rosa Modica is delightful, she recived us with warmth and grace, we loved meeting her, May 2004. We had a wonderful time, enjoyed the villa, Modica and all the people who were so friendly.  We especially want to thank Rosa, Angelo, for all the help and kindness they showed us.  Rosa is a gem; so helpful and treated us like family.  It was great for me to be among the Sicilian people and I know my friends were overwelmed by the friendliness. Villa Modica

Review Submitted: June 20, 2011 Date of Stay: May 2011
We stayed here in early June and it was one of the best houses that we have ever stayed in. We were 3 adults and 2 small children; the house would easily accomodate more people. There are 4 very spacious bedrooms and 2 good bathrooms. The kitchen was excellent, it had everything we needed to cook properly. We arrived on a Sunday and Giorgio and his wife had a lovely meal waiting for us and had stocked the fridge with everything we needed which was a great start. There was a lovely covered veranda which provided nice shade and the pool was gorgous. It also had gates at every entrance which was great with the kids (the house is very child friendly and our 21 month old had an excellent cot). The area is lovely, nice Baroque towns and a nice beach about 20 minutes drive away; again very suitable for kids. There are great restaurants in Modica, Giorgio recommended some good ones for us. We had a fantastic holiday here and would not hesitate to recommend it.

"Here I have found my paradise"

Review Submitted: November 11, 2010 Date of Stay: July 2010
We brought our entire family to Villa Modica for two weeks in August for a special celebration - our 70th Birthdays this year.
The villa proved to be the ideal venue, spacious, well equipped, superbly situated and exactly as advertised. The pool and the weather were so good that the children would have been happy to stay there for the whole holiday!
Three of us are amateur chefs, so the kitchen facilities were important, as was the bountiful produce in local shops and streets; the food was complemented by the wonderful Nero d'Avola and the shopkeepers were ready to give expert advice in a friendly manner.
Modica town is a dream for lovers of the italian ( no, Sicilian) way of life. Cafes, restaurants, architecture, churches, vini, proper coffee, THE LOCAL CHOCOLATE, granita, sitting in the shade watching the world go by, the wine bars, the friendliness of local people, oh yes , and the scooters!
Giorgio was extremely friendly and helpful. For example, even though we arrived at an ungodly hour of the night due to a late flight, he was waiting for us in the town centre to lead us to the villa and show us the facilities. He was available by phone at any time and came frequently to clean the pool. He also loaned us a satnav and beach umbrellas - nothing was too much trouble!
We would all be happy to recommend Villa Modica for a perfect holiday in the cheerful sun of Sicily. We hope to return someday.

Date of stay August 2010

Review Submitted: October 31, 2010 Date of Stay: August 2010
From the moment we arrived at Villa Modica we knew we were in for a treat. Having had a long journey it was wonderful to find in the oven a beautiful homecooked dinner which was absolutely delicious and was enough for 2 days - even though there was six of us! The villa was spotlessly clean which was a delight, no cobwebs in the corners, not a speck of dust anywhere. It really was like being at home, even the cupboards were full of food which was great because the shops are shut on Sundays. In the fridge was milk, cheese, eggs, coke, bottled water, fruit and the cupboards were full with bread, pasta, tins of lentils, tomatoes etc. It is very comfortably furnished with a wardrobe full of towels for the bathroom/pool - don't worry about bringing your own. The pool is amazing and a must have if you go in August with temperatures of 40 degrees C and over! The villa is set just a few minutes drive from Modica town centre but is completely secluded and peaceful. A car is essential but beware, the driving in Sicily is not the best. Giorgio is a great host and made us feel very welcome. He is on hand whenever needed, one evening we had a problem with the water and needed to call him and he was there within half and hour and not only sorted the problem out but brought a bottle of wine with him which we all sat and enjoyed together in the warm evening looking at beautiful view of Modica countryside whilst having a lovely chat. It was great! Really can't fault anything. Great for families but personally we wouldn't go back in August, it was too hot to do much sightseeing, probably June or September is best if you want to travel like we did. Thanks Giorgio for a great holiday!

Best villa to stay in south eastern Sicily

Review Submitted: October 26, 2010 Date of Stay: October 2010
Everything said in the notice about Villa Modica is correct -not a single overstatement. The modern house provides all possible conveniences and is better equipped than my own home. Yet for all the modern aspects, the view from the windows or from the pool, or on the veranda or back porch with barbecue grill brings a measure of old-world charm as the stone walls of the nearby orchards rise up from the valley. There is nothing not to like or enjoy about Villa Modica: perfect location for touring the Baroque villages or even a days journey as far as Agrigento -yes a long trip but the next day can be spent poolside or just poking around the streets of Modica.

The house has air conditioning, screens, fans, and every conceivable modern appliance. For those who cannot exist without the modern world, Villa Modica has WiFi with great reception in the kitchen and living room. Moreover, the flat-screen TV connects to a full-service SKY cable box that has sports, films or whatever with original language reception.

Villa Modica makes the guest feel they are truly welcomed, which comes the ethos of the owner, Giorgio. (He is Giorgio when you speak to him in Italian and George when you speak to him in his perfect English) and his philosophy extends to everyone that works at the Villa to keep it at top rate. My only regret in writing this review is that too many others will learn about this great place and make reservations more difficult for me.

About the only negative thing I can write, which I must to make it seem this is a real review, is that a car is necessary to reach the town about 1.5mi (2.5km) down the hill. Of course, it is possible to take a taxi and once in Modica everywhere in Sicily becomes accessible with public transportation. But why go anywhere else?

We were a party of three adult couples from the US and UK and the house brought us great joy, fun, and wonderful memories of our time together; our only regret is that it had to end. I will tell all my friends and relatives (the ones I like) to choose Villa Modica for the Sicilian adventure and take me with them!
