Further details for this holiday villa rental in Modica, Italy

General Description: The Villa is located on a strategic point: this part of Sicily has an abundance of art, archaeology, history, breathtaking scenery and of course wonderful food to offer. You will certainly be inspired by the brilliance and beauty of the town, by the stunning, secluded beaches, tranquil vineyards, ancient olive groves. And you can also explore Mount Etna, the greatest vulcano of Europe, Catania, a splendid city lying between Etna and the Ionian Sea, Syracuse, with its temples, its Greek Theatre and Roman Amphitheatre, and its Ear of Dionysius, Ragusa, with its traces of human settlements dating from as early as the 3rd millenium BC.Or, if you prefer something really breathtaking, why not go to Agrigento and see the Valley of the Temples?Anyway, the list of wonders that are waiting for you is too long to be written here. But Villa Modica is a perfect choice even if you just decide to indulge your senses spending lazy afternoons and suntanning..

Inside the Villa: Inside, Villa Modica, is modern and comfortable. It comes with a fireplace, satellite television , screens on windows and three air conditioned bedrooms. Maid service or a cook for an originall sicilian meal can be arranged at the time of booking.

Outside the Villa: From outside, the views are breathtaking, you may hear the peal of Modica's bells from a mile away and the closer tinkling of cowbells. Already old when the Greeks found it, Modica is a vibrant city of 50,000 that's filled with mysterious feasts, great restaurants, and ancient wonders. In the summer, the beach town of Marina di Modica, 20 mins away is abuzz with nightlife. Also within 20 mins are the catacombs of Cava d'Ispica and Baroque city of Noto. Also today Modica offers this intense taste of Baroque with its splendid views, its treasures of art, its churches, its palaces, its decorated portals risen on the ruins caused by the great earthquake of 1696 which destroyed a large part of Sicily, particularly Modica. We have especially planned for small children and babies, particularly with regard safety. The pool has access from three points in the garden. All access points have gates to keep young children outside of the pool area. The pool is open all year long.

Other Activities: The pool has access from three points in the garden. All access points have gates to keep young children outside of the pool area.

Best value, and comfort. We highly recommend it. June, 2003

The villa was fantastic. We will definitely book again because the quality of the villa, the excellent cook and your helpfull staff made all the difference. July,2004

The hosts are amazing. They have a very well stocked house and they think of everything that you need. Spectacular view and beauty of the property in terms of the pool and gardens. Everything is very well maintained. This part of Sicily has stunning drammatic hills. Modica is a lovely friendly town, Rosa Modica is delightful, she recived us with warmth and grace, we loved meeting her, May 2004. We had a wonderful time, enjoyed the villa, Modica and all the people who were so friendly.  We especially want to thank Rosa, Angelo, for all the help and kindness they showed us.  Rosa is a gem; so helpful and treated us like family.  It was great for me to be among the Sicilian people and I know my friends were overwelmed by the friendliness. My family travelled to Modica in the summer of 2008 and this house was a perfect base. George was helpful beyond measure, even staying with my father when he was admitted to hospital. The villa is big enough for two families without people getting under each others feet. It is well presented and has everything you need. Even though Modica itself is close by, it's better to have a car, so that you can visit the many sights and resturants nearby. The pool is maintained daily and having the BBQ meant that we could eat al fresco and avoid heating up the kitchen.

Our family stayed in this beautiful villa in April 2009. It is a lovely house in a beautiful setting. The owner Giorgio is extremely helpful and has fluent English following many years in Canada. There is lots to see in the surrounding area. Modica is a lovely city and Noto which is not far in the other direction is a beautiful town. The only minus to the villa is the need for a car - driving in Sicily is not a relaxing experience but all in all it is a great place for a holiday and the villa is wonderful.

Villa Modica

Review Submitted: August 13, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
The property is in excellent condition and there is everything there you could possibly need. The real bonus is the superb pool, and with their very hot weather, it was needed. The agent is very nice and nothing was too much trouble. Three things to bear in mind: You need a vehicle. It is not a tourist area, it is genuine Sicily, and we loved that, so if you don't speak any Italian, make sure you have a phrase book. The fuel charges are quite high, so be prepared for that,as it is paid upon departure to the owner .
We had an excellent holiday and I highly recommend this villa.

Excellent property with every amenity

Review Submitted: June 25, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
We are a family of 8 (Adults). We found the property to be well laid out and well equipped. The pool is just perfect with a nice gazebo to hide and relax under when it's too hot. The gardens are well laid out with herbs and trees. The owner is absolutely brilliant. He is attentive and shares his knowledge of the area well. I felt totally welcome. The people are fantastic. The village of Modica, just a few mins away, has all you need for shopping, although be warned shops such as butchers, fishmongers, supermarket are closed on Sunday. Also shops tend to close during the middle part of the day, so go either early morning or after 4pm. There are some lovely restuarants (tavenrna nicolisia in particular) and a local pizza shop even delivers orders to your villa. We eventually found a recommended restaurant which was hard to find, Fattoria delle Torri, which has an expensive menu and wine list, and whilst the food was of good quality we did not enjoy the experince due to not being able to speak enough Italian to know what to order. The menu is only in Italian, so we ordered 8 set menus and just waited to see what turned up! It was nice food though. Sunday night in the town is particluarly busy and lively, which was a lovely experience, full of families enjoying the night out. Modica is quite close to most main roads to get anywhere in the south east. Mount Etna is about 1.5 hours away and we took a cable car up, but could not go right to the summit. A bit expensive at 25 Euros but you can't go to Sicily and not see Mt. Etna! Taormina is a bit further on and is very touristy but worth a visit. Siracusa has nice shops, and the 'island' area of Ortygia is lovely. We took a one hour boat ride round it which was really worth it. We visited a water mill at Ispica, which is right by the caves, and it was very interesting, the guide that took us round was really good. It was cheap at 2.50 Euros as well. We didn't manage the caves as it can be a long walk of up to 12km, but if you have time it's a nice walk.
The villa itself is very secluded so you are not overlooked and the view at night is superb. Highly recommended. Nothing was too much trouble.
