Casa Castagna is the lower part of a 1000 year old fortified watchtower, added to in around 1400 to form a casa padronale or manorhouse. The property, which is made of old stone and ancient timbers, was recently restored to its present fine condition and includes a modern kitchen and bathroom, open fireplace and central heating. Two of the rooms have beautiful stained glass windows and much of the furniture is new, handmade by local cabinetmakers. The rooms have terracotta tiled floors with cosy, colourful, oriental rugs. The kitchen has french windows opening directly onto the large terrace. The house is situated on a ridge of high ground and faces south. From the lush garden with fig and oak trees, and from the sunshine bathed terrace are magnificent views on either side across cultivated valleys to wooded hills beyond.

Notes to the rental rates

• The above rates are for two persons using the accommodation. If the party comprises three or four persons, then an additional weekly charge of between £50 and £90, depending on season, per third and fourth person will apply. If more than four persons are in the party, then a flat weekly charge of £30 for each person above four will apply.
  
• Prices quoted are per week. Each second and subsequent week booked will be discounted by £30.
  
• Bookings are usually made from Saturday to Saturday but, when possible, full flexibility is offered on start and end days with part weeks payable on a daily pro rata basis.
