Exploring Tuscany and Umbria

Review Submitted: June 6, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
This is a beautiful place in the country. It is on the border of Tuscany and Umbria. We used it as a home base to explore Florence, Sienna, Assisa among others.
The walled city of Cortona is in the hills above.
The owners Caroline and Pino were very attentative to our needs and whims.
My wife and I rented an apartment style room for a week. It has a kitchen and bathroom with washer. If you don't like to be in a hotel in a busy city and want a country experience that is close to all the great attractions of central Italy, this is a great place.

Owner's Response: Dear Rob and Siti,
We are delighted you found the peace and tranquillity you were looking for. Certainly we are very close to all the lovely Tuscan and Umbrian hill towns with local produce such as cheese, cured meats, bistecca fiorentina and a whole host of wines to taste. And our local train station was handy for day trips to Rome and Florence. We hope to see you again soon. Regards, Caroline and Pino

Wonderful! Couldn't have asked for more!

Review Submitted: April 5, 2012 Date of Stay: March 2012
Where do we begin? From the moment we pulled up at Molino Di Bordone we knew we were in for a treat! There were 7 of us, 4 adults 3 children and we stayed in the Stalla Rustica. We had 3 large bedrooms, plenty of room. 3 bathrooms and a full kitchen with everything we needed. We also had a very large living room to relax in after a long day of touring around all the wonderful cities located within and hour of Molino Di Bordone. Everything was decorated with wonderful rustic taste. My kids loved coming back everyday to blow of some energy on the trampoline and run around all the beautiful gardens and play on the swings. We spent time lounging around the gardens drinking wine and talking about what we done and seen all day. We truly loved the property and cannot wait to return. Caroline and Pino were so wonderful, giving us directions to restaurants and places to go see. They were there to help us with anything we needed. We cannot thank you enough for allowing us to have the pleasure of staying in your beautiful home!

Thank you again for everything!

Owner's Response: We were delighted to welcome your family to our home. We enjoyed watching the children let off steam in the garden and the adults drinking wine in the shade. We enjoy helping guests plan their days out to make the most of their time.

Perfect location for a Tuscany/Umbria adventure

Review Submitted: April 5, 2012 Date of Stay: March 2012
Caroline and Pino are consummate hosts, who have done an amazing job in restoring their property and the grounds. It's right on the Tuscany/Umbria border - and it's easy to get to Florence, Siena, Perugia etc. The apartment was just right for the vacation - and would definitely stay there again. Try their olive oil too!
Owner's Response: It is April and almost Easter. The gardens are looking beautiful and ready for the season. Tulips and hyacinths are blooming; mimosa and forsythia are flowering. Our olive oil tastes good on toasted tuscan bread or in soup.

Picture Postcard Perfect

Review Submitted: March 27, 2012 Date of Stay: March 2012
We were celebrating a 60th birthday, and the 4 of us wanted to celebrate in Tuscany. Our 10 day stay in La Fontanella was just as we had imagined it would be. The apartment is clean and bright, beautifully appointed, well maintained, all inclusive, and perfect for our needs. Caroline and Pino were welcoming, friendly, and very helpful hosts. The location is perfect for day trips to every part of Tuscany and Umbria, either by car or by train. We would definitely recommend a stay at Il Molino di Bordone.
Owner's Response: We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay in the Fontanella and that everything met your expectations.

Could Not Have Been Better!

Review Submitted: November 16, 2010 Date of Stay: November 2010
We (four adults from the US) stayed in the Villa La Fontanella from Nov. 4 - Nov. 8, 2010. Our hosts, Caroline, Pino and the children were fun, gracious and very helpful. The Villa was exceptionally clean, spacious and well furnished (especially the kitchen) with everthing we could possibly need. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. We enjoyed the local "bar" and pizza restaurant and made several trips to the local market. The location is ideal for touring Tuscany & Umbria. Our most memorable evening was a cooking event arranged by Caroline that featured Chef Lucca. We all participated (a little) with preparing the salt crusted guinea fowl, home made pasta with spicey garlic red sauce, roasted potatoes & veggies and chocolate mousse. Thanks again for your hospitality and give our best to your family and Lucca. Cheers!
