Pilari apartments are in the ancient village that is the farm heart and its origins are lost in the past. The oldest part of the village was built as a watch tower of Pierle castle near the XIII century. The watch tower basis was chiseled in the rock and you can still see this hard work in the wall of the cellar. During the time the tower became a farm house and the owner added other rooms so the house 'grew'. The houses called Passaggio and Tabaccaia are 200mt.far from the Pilari apartments (center of the farm). These are old houses too because they are the first houses built in the valley.

This apartment is on two flats: at the first there are the sitting room with fireplace, one double bedroom with bathroom, the kitchen, other bathroom and a terrace and at the second level the other double bedroom. There is independent heating ad in the kitchen there is a stove with four cooker, fridge with freezer and all you need for cooking. In the sitting room there is a sofa bed. This apartment is called Castagnolo because this is the nick name of the last farm worker who lived here. Through windows of the bedrooms and from the terrace you can see the wonderful view of Pierle castle surrounded by the green hills of Val di Pierle (Pierle Valley).

About the Farm

Hi, my name is Vanni and with my wife Diletta and my mother Maria, we manage this piece of land. The farm 'Pilari' is situated in a little valley, Val di Pierle (Pierle valley), near Trasimeno lake and it is 118 acres (48 hectares) large and this area is divided into these growing: Maize, Sunflowers, Wheat, an olive grove, a little vineyard and wood. Since a few years ago we also produced Tobacco for cigarettes and this plant is very important for the valley economy. Tobacco has been grown for a long time and it's become a part of the history of the valley. I'm looking for some historical and technical information about Tobacco and I hope to do soon a web page dedicated to this plant. A very important farm product is Olive Oil that is natural and has a very good taste.
