Cavriglia holiday farmhouse: Chianti hills

This is one of the most idyllic places that we have stayed. Our stay was very relaxing, nice pool and very clean property. Good location for visiting the main attractions of Tuscany

We just returned from Italy and I wanted to immediately write a review of our stay.
The cottage is located in an absolutely picturesque region on the Siena-Arezzo border in Chianti.
We would wake up in the morning and from our bed we would look over the sunny valley of olive trees and grape vines.

The small cottage "Il Fienile" was perfectly appointed for two people.
The kitchen has a four burner stove and electric oven.
A/C is available but was not needed during out stay.
Medium size fridge.
Satellite television with CNN, BBC and Bloomberg in English as well as many, many channels in everything from Italian to Farsi.
The shower has great pressure with lots of hot water.

The Pool is medium size and in a lovely location surrounded by olive trees with plenty of chairs to lounge in for those sun bathers.

The grill requires the purchase of Charcoal which can be found at the IPERCOOP in Montevarcchi.

I strongly suggest climbing/or driving the half mile to the top of Montaio from the cottage at sunset to take in the amazing panoramic views. Truly Breathtaking.

If you like to run there's a number of loops you can do including a two mile loop that brings you through the nearby hamlet of Grimole and the olive and grape vines that lead back to the cottage.

Cavriglia is only a kilometer away and the Gelateria is less than two! A Bancomat (ATM) is located nest to the butcher shop opposite it.

We spent a great deal of our time hiking and we had no trouble getting to our various locations in Chianti.
Florence is a little less than an hour away.

We has absolute privacy and yet Marinna was only a few hundred feet away in case we had any questions or concerns.

If your idea of Chianti is tasting wine, hiking, walking around ancient villages, eating great food and waking to the sound of birds chirping this is the place for you.

We actually stayed in Il Fienile in late April - early May 2007 for 7 days. This is a belated but well deserved review. It was our first trip to Italy. Marina and Andrea made us welcome from the beginning, and as the villa is independent of their home, gave us the space to explore as we chose or help when we needed. The villa is in pristine "countrystyle" condition and layout. The garden is private, as is the view from the bedroom over the olive grove. As it was spring the pool was not available. Local walks complemented our travels to neighbouring towns and cities via the autostrade and provincial roads. Traffic in the area is very light.

There is a superb restaurant (great food and brilliant wine list) in Cavriglia, in old Convent/Monastery - Andrea will give you details.
If serenity is what you're looking for this is the place! It was just perfect.
