Deep in the hills of Chianti and nestled between the provinces of Siena, Arezzo and Florence, lies Il Colombaio, a characteristic and charming old farm house situated in silvery-green olive groves overlooking Chianti grape vineyards and the Arno Valley. The property is composed of three buildings: the farmhouse, the hayloft and the stable. The farmhouse is inhabited by its owners, Andrea and Marina, and has an independent apartment on the ground floor; the hayloft and the stable have been trasformed into two small houses. The buildings are surrounded by an olive grove and an extensive lawn where the swimming pool is located, in an isolated and panoramic position. Il Colombaio offers a discreet environment and the typical atmosphere of Tuscan farms; it is a great place to relax in tranquillity, but is also the ideal point of departure for many possible day trips: either to famous art cities, cultural centres in Tuscany and in the nearby Umbria, or numerous hiking and mountain

Located in the courtyard, in front of the farmhouse, the building that once was the stable has been totally renovated and trasformed into a small and characteristic house. Entirely built with stone, terracotta and exposed wooden beams, it is composed by a living/dining room with a sofa bed, kitchen corner and TV with satellite antenna, 1 room with a double bed, bathroom with shower. Outside it has a panoramic terrace and a private space in the garden equipped with table, chairs and sun chairs. The furniture is comfortable with some antique pieces. The kitchen is provided with a 4 ring stove, oven and fridge with freezer.

Until the half of the '900 il Colombaio belonged to the ancient property of Badia Coltibuono: it is located in the surroundings of Cavriglia, a small town in the heart of Tuscany, approximately 40 km from the cities of Florence, Siena and Arezzo. The nearest international airports are Florence (50 km) and Pisa (120 km); Rome is 240 km away. The easy access to the motorway A1/E35 Milan-Florence-Rome (10 km) allows you to reach many interesting spots within a short time; still using pleasant and very panoramic country roads, you can reach in less than an hour the famous areas of Chianti Classico. In Cavriglia, 1,5 km from il Colombaio, you can find food shops, restaurants, bank, chemist etc. Both the towns of Montevarchi and San Giovanni Valdarno, with commercial centre, railway station and every kind of stores and services, are only 8 km away.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Included in the rent: water, electricity, gas, bed and bath linens and pool use. Bath linens are changed weekly and are for indoor use only: the towels for the swimming pool are not supplied. Not included: final cleaning 40 Euro, air conditioning and heating are to be paid according to the consumption. There is a shared laundry room: it is possible to use the washing machine at the cost of 5 Euro each washing.
  • If your booking enters into two different seasons, we will calculate your rate based exactly upon the number of days booked per season.
  • A deposit equal to 25% of the rental price is required at the time of booking. The balance has to be paid upon arrival together with a security deposit of € 100 (cash): the deposit will be refunded on departure after deduction of any extra charges or breakages.

An absolutely fabulous find! What would we do without Holiday Rentals? We had a lovely week enjoying the peaceful, beautiful location. Il Fienile is a great little place full of rustic charm: every thing we needed to relax. Thanks to Marina for being a great host. Will certainly recommend this to friends and look forward to returning (Kev and Dawn,UK).
While we have been to Italy before, this was our first visit to Tuscany. We felt as if we were at our own private villa: the combination of daily sunny skies, the wine and food, the many excursions and coming “home” to il Colombaio these past two weeks have made this our “best vacation ever”. You can be certain that we will return (Ralph and Maggie, Canada).
It would be difficult to imagine a better centre for exploring the beautiful Tuscan scenery. Add to that the charm of the house and Marina’s and Andrea’s welcome and you have an ideal holiday location. (Andrew and Carol, France).

"La Loggia" is a fabulous place! We stayed here and loved it. It is situated in an ideal location. Cavriglia is a really great little town and is within easy driving distance to Florence and Siena. "La loggia" itself is small but lovely. It has a large double bedroom, a modern white bathroom and a lovely open plan kitchen/diner/living room (all decorated very recently and to a high standard). The property is very close to the pool and has a great balcony with stunning views down the hill. We have already recommended it to family and friends and hope to return again!
