Characteristic farmhouse immersed in large private gardens, situated at the foot of the ancient town of Cortona. The Cortonese hillside, La Fortezza and the ancient wall which encloses the town, dominate the view of the surrounding hillside. Guests have exclusive use of the delightful 12x6 swimming pool, with Roman steps, which lies in an extremely panoramic position and from where you can enjoy the view in complete relaxation. Or you may care to wine and dine to your hearts content in the cool of the shady patio. This homely villa is of typical Tuscan style with beamed ceiling and terra cotta floors and has every modern comfort. La Poventa is just 4km from Cortona and a 5 minute drive away. In Cortona you can take stroll down the ancient streets or wonder through the gardens and Piazzas discovering the many little bars and restaurants offering excellent local cuisine. From the local train station (4 kms) you can take trains to Arezzo Florence, Perugia, Assisi, Rome.

Lots of space for families

My extended family of 9 stayed at La Poventa. It's a great place for large families with lots of space for everyone. The lovely stone walls kept the place cool despite 35-40C temperatures. The pool and outdoor eating area were fabulous as was the view of Cortona. We watched the sun set and moonrise every night. It is well situated for day trips in the area. A car is necessary. The owner was attentive and available to help with any issues we had. Only one complaint; it could have been a little cleaner.
