An apartment in Chianti hills, near Florence
“Borgo 8” is a nice apartment in the historical centre of San Casciano in Val di Pesa. We have reserved our guests a private parking spot in the closest public parking. Guests can enjoy breathtaking sunsets on a beautiful, terracotta-paved terrace located in the house's spacious backyard facing the Pesa river valley. Moreover, guests can relax and laze in the sun in our olive tree garden, furnished with a table, garden chairs.

Florence (15 km), Siena (46 km), San Gimignano (35 km) or Volterra (54 km), as well as Pisa and the whole Chianti area, are easily reached by bus or private car for a one-day excursion. San Casciano is a medieval town with well preserved city walls dating back to the Middle Ages, which offers visitors many an opportunity to enjoy their stay. Beautiful art works, delicious food and one of the best wines of the world (Chianti Classico Antinori), together with exciting one-day excursions in the surroundings, will make a vacation in San Casciano a unique experience. The local art museum shows works by such artists as Ambrogio Lorenzetti and Coppo di Marcovaldo. Visitors of the medieval church of the Misericordia will have the chance to admire masterpieces such as Simone Martini's Crucifixion Scene.

San Casciano, Florence, Chianti
San Casciano is a towns in the Chianti Classico area. Only four km out of town, guests can visit Niccolo Machiavelli's exile residence, where the famous author wrote his well-known masterpiece 'Il Principe' ('The Prince'). Florence is the most famous and closest touristic destination; it can be easily reached thanks to the excellent bus service. The bus stop is only 100 m away from our apartment. The Chianti area, with its charming towns and luxurious vineyards, lies all around San Casciano. Farms and wineries can be visited for wine-tasting and local food shopping, such as olive oil, cheese and meats.
Siena and Tuscany
Siena, worldwide known for the 'Palio' (July 2nd and August 16th) is only 35 minutes away. San Gimignano with its antique house towers, can be reached within 20 minutes car drive, and Volterra, homeland of the ancient Etruscan civilization, is just 1 hour away by car as well as Pisa and Lucca. Beautiful beaches are also about 100 km away from us and, thanks to the highway, they are in easy reach for those guests who would like to explore the Tuscan seaside.

My friend and I spent 10 wonderful days and nights in Roberto's apartment in San Casciano. We could not have dreamed of a better experience. The apartment is lovely, with every convenience, and it is kept immaculately clean by the owners. There is a beautiful garden in the back where we relaxed in the evening, with a glass of the excellent local wine. There are several great restaurants within easy walking distance. If you choose to cook for yourself, there are wonderful delicatessens and produce shops steps from the apartment.
The apartment is also very well situated for sightseeing, and there is no need to have a car. It is a very short walk to the bus stop that takes you to Florence, and from Florence there are buses available to many of the wonderful sites of Tuscany.
Enough cannot be said of the hospitality of Roberto and his family. We were as sad to leave them as to leave the wonderful apartment and village. There is no doubt we will return, and next time for a longer stay.
