I wish I could have stayed longer!

We spent a delightful early April week in Florence with this apartment as a home away from home. The location is good: conveniently close to downtown and the train station, yet far enough from those things that it was quiet and neighborhoody. The apartment felt very Italian and old-fashioned (in a good way) with heavy dark furniture, cold marble floors, thick shutters to keep out noise and heat. We weren't home a lot because there is so much to see in Florence, but by far the most time we spent when at home and awake was in the kitchen, enjoying the prospect of the sunny garden with its beautiful tree. It's great to stay in a rental apartment with well-stocked kitchen equipment, including a truly sharp knife and a proper coffee pot! (moka style) Having a washing machine and a garden to dry the laundry in was also a huge plus -- we were able to travel with very light luggage as a result of being able to wash things easily. (Note, it is a European-style washing machine and takes a lot longer than Americans are used to. The door also won't open right away when the cycle finishes, but that's normal -- it does eventually.)
This is the second apartment I have rented from Paolo (the other in Venice) and I have found him to be kind, responsive and full of integrity.
