Date of Stay: March 2008
I fell in love with the looks of this tiny studio, on the internet site. After contact with the owner, Francesco, I booked it for 4 weeks, in March, 2008.
Francesco was there to meet me, as arranged. After showing me the apartment, he took me for a walk around the neighborhood, pointing out good shops, laundromat, internet points, markets and so on. He introduced me to Maurizio, who owns a bar/trattoria just down the street. We enjoyed a caffè, and I was to have many good meals, cooked by Maurizio's mother, during my stay. Their caffè and brioche got me started in the mornings!
I felt at home and secure in the well equipped, clean apartment. A good supply of DVDs and CDs helped to keep me amused in the evenings. The kitchen allowed me to prepare meals, using fresh produce from local markets and shops. (What a treat to eat tomatoes with taste.) The sofa bed was very comfortable, and Francesco brought fresh, crisp linen each week, including soft, thick towels. Clever use has been made of the space available for the wardrobe.
The neighborhood is quiet, and close to all the attractions of Florence. I loved hearing the bells of Santo Spirito, which is only a couple of blocks away. There are many artisans in the neighborhood, and I was able to meet some of them, and watch the progress of their skilled work.
Francesco is a thoughtful, obliging landlord, without being in any way intrusive.
The studio is probably best for one person, or a couple. I found it an economical, convenient place to stay, and would certainly return there again.
