Palagio is the largest apartment, sleeping 8. On the ground floor is the cloak-room; on the first floor - up 11 steps - are 2 double bedrooms with bathrooms en-suite, 1 twin bedroom, 1 adjoining bathroom. On the floor above is a fourth bedroom (queen-size bed) with plenty reading space in the tower. All the bedrooms and the kitchen have electric ceiling fans and air conditioning units. The kitchen has an attractive fireplace and a table seating 8. The living room has 3 sofas and the dinner-table is for 8. The hi-fi is in the study. The kitchen is equipped with gas hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher and food processor. A washing machine, clothes-dryer and a freezer are also available. Palagio has a wood-fired pizza oven at ground level. It also has a wide outdoor (threshing-yard) terrace with lounging chairs and a dinner table and sunshade. There is an outdoor barbecue in the garden. There are lawns and naturally shaded areas.The pool is some 40 yards from the house.

Notes to the rental rates

• The rates shown are for up to 5 persons. The weekly rate for any additional person is 220 GB Pounds for an adult and 100 GB Pounds for each child under 12. There is no charge for a baby cot and bedding or for a high chair. A spare bed is available for free in each of the master bedrooms.
  A mid-week cleaning session is included in your rental. A final cleaning charge of GB Pounds 70.00 is payable with your rental fees.
  A weekly deposit of Euros 200.00 is payable on arrival to meet your utility bills and against any loss or damage. The balance thereof is returned to you upon departure.
  In the event of your wishing to take the entire manor for your own exclusive use, the weekly deposit is Euros 1,000.00 on the same terms.
  
• Palagio's UTILITIES:
  Gas for both cooking and water heating is included in your summer rental but is paid for separately in the winter, when your central heating is on. Electricity is payable at all times. Your meter is read when you arrive and before you leave and you are charged only for what you have used.
  There is a fixed weekly charge of 10 Euros for your telephone land line at Palagio, to be added to the total cost of your units. However, the cost of the latter can be reduced by using pre-paid/rechargeable telephone cards that can be easily obtained from the local Post Office.
  
• There is an additional double bedroom with twin beds and bathroom en-suite with its own door onto the garden and it is a wheel chair accessible room.
  It may be booked at all seasons, as a back-up to your unit - whether Limonaia or Palagio - and the cost is 90 Pounds per night, including bedding and utilities.
  Breakfast is provided at an additional 5 Pounds per person per night.

When you arrive

Your apartment will be ready and a bottle of estate Chianti will be waiting for you ... for a good start! You will also find a folder with practical information and some useful telephone numbers to assist you during your stay. Arrival time is from 16:00 hours and departure time is by 10:30 to allow for changeover. When you reach the estate gates at Via S. Lorenzo a Colline n.9 please ring the bell for your apartment and wait for a response over the video/intercom. Once the gates open just drive very slowly down to the house; the gates close automatically. You have reached your holiday destination! If you are a music lover, your options include the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Concerts, Opera and Ballet Season ( at Comunale Theatre) and the Amici della Musica Concerts (at La Pergola Theatre), among many others.

Your nearest shopping towns are

IMPRUNETA and GRASSINA (each 3.5 km away): Restaurants,food shops, supermarket, dry cleaner's, florist, pharmacy, Post Office. You can go to Florence by bus (timetable in your folder). you can also drive to Florence, but you must head for one of the designated car parks, as driving around the city centre is only allowed on Sunday. Most museums take advance bookings. State museums (Academy, Bargello, Uffizi, Palazzo Pitti, Medici Chapels and Villas, etc) can be reached on +39 055 294 883. Don't forget that

the food shops in Italy open at 08:00 and shut firmly from 13:00 until well after 16:00. They close in the evening around 20:00. Many supermarkets, however, including the ones at IMPRUNETA and GRASSINA, stay open all day (closed on Wednesdays). Some are also open on Sunday mornings. On Sundays most shops are closed except for some smart clothes shops in Florence. But many takeaway shops (Rosticceria) are open in the morning and so are cake and ice-cream shops. Restaurants and Trattorias serve lunch from 12:00 to 14:00 and dinner usually between 20:00 and 22:00. Some require advance booking. Cafes and Pizzerias stay open later. Museums and galleries have late night opening hours in the Summer. Afternoon concerts are at 16:00 and evening concerts usually begin after 20:30.

Abetone is the recommended resort for all snow sports and for every level of skills. It is 1.5 hours away from the Property by car or coach.
