Palazzo Pasquini is a restored X1V C palace with wondrous views. The house is substantial, with enormous entrance/dining room with arched doorways, high beamed ceilings, exposed stonework & traditional flooring. There is a large traditional Tuscan kitchen, leading to the garden & dining terrace with the most fantastic views over the rooftops of the village, with the valley & mountains beyond. The garden has various nooks & crannies for quiet reflection & a private pool with Jacuzzi style roman steps (12Mx4M). There are 3 double bedrooms, 1 with adjoining sitting rooms, twin rooms - 1 which connects with a double. There are 2 shower rooms & 1 bathroom. There is also a further living/dining room & a 'breakfast' style room with arched doorway leading through to part of the garden. There are little places to explore all round the house, delightful for hide & seek! The house oozes character & is a complete one off - a real feel of history with many antiques, & original features.

The property is situated in the tiny ancient village of Treppignana high in the hills overlooking the Garfagnana Valley. The population of this well kept and friendly village is only 30 , & cars are not permitted beyond the main Square, which ensures peace and quiet, and safe exploring for children. The views from the village are amazing at every turn due to its high position, and from the bell tower there are 360 degrees views of the entire area - wonderful! A walkers/trekkers paradise, there are various walks straight from the village, and the mountain peaks are all climbable by foot. All this peace and yet only a 15 minute drive from the market town of Castelnuovo and 20 minutes or so from the medieval town of Barga both with their various bars and restaurants. The nearest shop/bar is a 5 minute drive away and there is a restaurant within 10 minutes. Pisa 1 hr 20 mins; Lucca 1 hr; Florence 1hr 45 mins; mediaeval villages everywhere; National Parks 30 mins. Step back in time!

This is the most amazing place! It has everything you could want and the owners are lovely.
There were 12 of us age 2 - 72 and we all loved every minute of our stay. The house was beautiful, clean and very well equipped. Don't be put off by the road up, it is more than worth it and gives you the chance to experience real Tuscany.
The restaurant at the foot of the hill provided excellent food and incredible value for money and service (too much wine too!)
Really central location for visiting the area and perfect to come home to in the evening to watch the sunset!
We will definitely go back and I would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting this area.

Our dream holiday in Tuscany - the most beautiful location with spectacular views. The house was well equipped (particularly the kitchen) and the terrace and pool perfect. Great wildlife - dawn choruses from owls and cuckoos, buzzards overhead, glorious butterflies, emerald lizards and mountain walks with meadows where the scent of wild mint wafts up from under your feet. The owner was quietly charming and very helpful - and upstairs if you need any help. You definitely need a car for supplies but Castelnuovo is a charming little town and Barga is only 30 mins away. The restaurant at the bottom of the hill (15 mins drive) is owned by a friendly Scot. You'll sleep well - shutters keep the bedrooms dark and peaceful. Who needs a telly when you have such stunning sunsets and dramatic thunderstorms. Garfagna is the most beautiful region in Tuscany. Highly recommended for warm weather holidays.

The house lived up to its billing, it's fantastic. There are plenty of nooks and crannies for even the pldest children to enjoy exploring! The views are excellent and the drive up is a treat.
The owner is very helpful though a small amount of Italian is helpful.
Try the bar at the bottom of the hill for incredible value and friendly service. The chef speaks good english.

Some good walks direct from the property.

Wir waren mit 8 Erwachsenen, 4 Teenagern und 2 Kindern vorort.
Trotzdem gab es jede Menge Platz sowohl innerhalb als auch außerhalb des Hauses.Die Lage ist absolut überragend(im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes) Man hat einen gigantischen Blick über das Tal und auf die Berge. Die Ausstattung ist absolut überzeugend (vor allem die riesige Küche ist auf 14 Personen vorbereitet) Die vorhandenen 3 Bäder sind bei etwas Planung vollkommend ausreichend.
Das innere des Hauses ist eine Augenweide,allein durch die alten Deckenbalken und die ca.120 cm dicken Natursteinmauern(welche das Haus auch ohne Klimaanlage angenehm kühl halten)
Der saubere Pool bietet selbst bei 35°C Luft eine willkommene Abkühlung.
Die Fahrt aus dem Tal hinauf zum Haus (bzw.umgekehrt)ist etwas abenteuerlich,da die Strasse ziemlich schmal ist ,aber für geübte Autofahrer stellt dies kein Problem dar. Das Haus ist für Ausflüge zum Meer oder nach Florenz/Pisa geeignet,auch wenn die Fahrtzeit ca.1,5 - 2,0 Stunden beträgt.
Fazit:tolles Haus in toller Gegend .Ruhe und Erholung pur. Und das zu einem sehr günstigen Preis(ich hoffe,der Vermieter liest das nicht)
Dieses Haus werden wir in den nächsten 3-4 Jahren auf jeden Fall nochmal buchen
