Photos and Description of this Lucca holiday apartment 1 bedroom; 1 bathroom; 1 living room with a sofa bed, suitable up to 4 people

Welcome! There are no strangers here, only friends we haven't met!!! "La Terrazza" is a rare find. A superb, bright, sun-exposed during all the day, airy holiday apartment, placed at the first floor (above the street line and not at the ground floor or under it) of a 13th century palace, in the heart of medieval Lucca but with a large and private outdoor terrace bedecked with colourful pots of jasmine flowers and lemon plants. The whole apartment is a beautifully furnished in charming ethnic style, laid out along Feng-Shui lines and has got beautiful large French-style windows. It faces on to a Baptistery's church and it is protected so it is very safe both for adults and especially for children. From its terrace you can also see the sunset, so you can have a very romantic dinner in a total privacy or you can sit and take a cooling drink or just gaze over the roofs of the medieval city in perfect tranquility.

This beautiful city is famous for its monumental 15th century fortified wall. But dig a little deeper and you find that its winding mediaeval streets actually follow the plan laid out by the Romans in 180BC. And before the Romans, Lucca was one of the major centres of Etruria, the ancient country of central Italy that more or less corresponds to modern Tuscany. Unsurprisingly then, Lucca is steeped in history. Your twelfth century building is just a small part of that. There are museums and churches, and the magnificent cathedral, the Duomo di San Martino, is the town’s finest Romanesque building, its impressive façade a triumph of sculpture, carving and inlay work – at just five minutes’ walk from the apartment. Modern delights include terrific restaurants, bars and shops, all within a few minutes’ walk. In Lucca’s winding streets, the pedestrian comes before the car, so you can move at your own pace. In fact wandering the streets is one of the great pleasures of the city.

La Terrazza

Review Submitted: September 27, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We had a lovely stay here in Sept 2009. The apartment is well located, quiet and has a nice spacious, shady terrace surrounded by plants. Its a lovely old building. There is one bedroom and a sofabed in the large kitchen/ sitting room. It was fine for 3 of us but more might have been a squash. The owner Emmaclaudia was very helpful and arranged to greet us on the outskirts of Lucca and spent a few hours showing us where to find parking, shopping etc and settling us in. All the arrangements went very smoothly. Lucca has a lot of interest and is a good location for exploration.

Thanks Emma Claudia

Owner's Response: Dear Sirs,
I am happy you enjoyed, I always make my best to wellcome guests as they are familiar friends, promoting Lucca and all things and events held in my region.
I like people having a taste on my region and enjoying the stay; that because I am a traveller myself and adventurer to discover the best things all over the word.
I hope you will visit me again next year....

A Stay at La Terrazza in Lucca

Chris, Nola and the kids Perth, Australia
Review Submitted: June 22, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We spent 4 days in Lucca at this great apartment. There were 2A and 3C which was maybe a squeeze but being out all day and with a fantastic balcony it was really no issue. We often as a family sat outside at the table and had breakfast, lunch or dinner
The stay started with a great introduction from Emma Claudia the owner. Further to this intro she then hosted us later in our stay to a farm visit, for free. Lucca is a lovely town and we thoroughly enjoyed being in the town both walking and bike riding and then taking trips outside via the car. Overall we were very comfortable and had a great time with the apartment and Lucca.
There were no issues with the apartment, it was secure, tidy and had all the facilities needed.

Very disappointed

Review Submitted: January 9, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
We had booked 4 nights in La Terrazza from 30th dec - 3rd Jan.
When we arrived at 10pm at night, Emma informed us that she had turned the heating on at 7.30pm. As we had to pay separately for heating it cost us a lot of money to heat the apartment over night The apartment was still very very cold and as soon as we got out of bed in the morning we dressed and put our coats on! It was so cold in the bathroom you could see your breath! We worked out that it would have cost us less to spend the following three nights in a hotel suite. We rang Emma and told her we were not happy. She said it felt ok to her and asked how warm we liked our home to be?! She didnt seem to understand that being warm was something that should be important. She even said that no one had used the apartment since october and it should warm up in a couple of days! We decided that it would be cheaper if we spent the following 3 evenings in a hotel. After chasing her around for 3 hours we eventually got our safety deposit back. She charged us for one evening gas and the full cleaning fee! We hadnt even used a cup! We would not recommend this apartmnet to anyone, even though it would be a lot warmer in summer. What made us most annoyed was the fact that Emma didnt see it as a problem that the apartment was cold and should have at least aired it for a couple of days before we arrived. Also the fact that what she was charging per unit was too much. This apartment should be shut up for winter and not be allowed to advertise it during these months.
Owner's Response: Dear Sirs, this review is false (I have the evidences). Please let me know how can I delete this review.
Some points: The guest said that she arrived at 10 pm of 30/12/2008 but she arrived at 11 pm and I had to wait 1 hour for her and welcomed her with kindness. She liked the apartment and the temperature was right for her. I asked if she wanted some extra blankets, but she said the temperature was ok (20 degrees) and she had the possibility (and she knew) to rise up the temperature using the heating regulator. Maybe she was afraid of paying 2 euros/cubemeters?!? I refounded her of the gas consumpted!!! She said to me that she only wanted to wear a t-shirt in the apartment... She said that she had been waiting for me for 3 hours to have the money refounded but it's not true: after 1 hour I was there and gave her security and the safety deposit back even if usually security deposit is not to be refunded. Sincerely I don't know why she wrote all those things against me, but they are all false and are damaging my image. Please remove this review. I am honest and sincere. Many guests after having stayed in my apartment keep in contact with me, they write letters to me, send photos and greeting cards. And this is in my opinion the proof that they spent a good time in Lucca.

La Terrazza, Lucca

Review Submitted: July 8, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
We were received in a very helpful, generous and friendly way by Emma- Claudia the owner and shown everything needful for our stay. . The flat was everything the advertisement described. It was quiet, conveniently located, well equipped (though we could have done with more than two very large cups). Hot and cold water were in plentiful supply but we had to get used to the "open" shower arrangement in the bathroom. In the exceptionally hot weather the use of at least an electric fan would have beenhelpful.

Having travelled by car we found parking a problem. No parking is allowed to visitors withing the walls of the city. We had to leave the car in a public(non-paying carpark about 10 minutes walk away
The owner was however very helpful in helping is to accommodate to this difficulty.
Altogether a memorable stay in a fascinating city
