The AL CASINO DEI PAPI is a lovely small country house located on the top of a hill, only 8km north of Lucca. It is detached and completely surrounded by a terraced garden from which the view is truly unforgettable. The swimming pool measures 10x5 metres and 1,40 deep. Garden and swimming pool are fully provided with tables, chairs, sun-beds and umbrellas. The shower at the pool is a hot/cold water one. The house was built at the beginning of the XX century but restored during the winter 2006. The works on the property and the furniture have been extremely cared. The original structure has been preserved and every modern comfort have been provided. The original wood beams, terracotta floors and stone walls can be admired. GROUND FLOOR: the open space offers a full-equipped kitchen, fireplace, dining area and living area, bathroom. FIRST FLOOR three bedrooms, two bathrooms.

ABOUT LOCATION: The AL CASINO DEI PAPI lies on the very top of the hill, named San Concordio di Moriano, only 8 km from LUCCA's historic centre. The house is approached by a short (about 1000 metres) but narrow and quite steep gravelled track. It is not paved for less than a km. For the rest, the route is very easily to drive and the panorama is amazing.

NEARBY: For those who are active country lovers Casino dei papi is a perfect base to explore Lucca (Tuscany too) and its countryside. The nearby are visitable by car driving up an downhill everywhere. You can also go for lovely walks among flowers, plants, vineyard, olive tree.. This is also perfect for the mountain biking. A lot of hidden hiking can be admired. For those who wish to relax they can stay in the garden between a swimming in the pool and a sunbath. For those who wish to visit Lucca they can go there in 10 minutes.

Perfect Property for: A family with 2/3 children, 4/5 friends travelling together 1/2 couples ... here it is so romantic... i can suggest this property for honeymoon too!

Excellent, a fantastic Tuscan retreat

We stayed at Al Casino dei Papi over Easter 2008. The house and views are absolutely stunning. The accommodation had everything we needed and Deborah was on call 24/7 to help with anything we needed, she even set up an internet connection for us.

We didn't get to use the pool as Easter was fairly cold and we woke up one morning to 3 inches of snow! The next day we sat on the beach sunbathing at Forte de Marmi.

Our children loved exploring and playing on the mountainside, coming face to face with a wild boar and eagle spotting. Lucca is a beautiful Tuscan town - cycling along the top of the city walls is a must. We also visited the zoo at Pistoia (a great small, hands on zoo) and the Grotta del Vento caves (a hair raising ride into the mountains!). There is a large supermarket in Lucca.

All in all a fantastic week, a fantastic host and fantastic accommodation. Highly recommended.
