This old farmhouse was built in the early 1700's on the outskirts of the Mediaeval town of Barga. The farmhouse and barn have been fully restored whilst retaining the original character with chestnut beams and terracotta tiled floors. Fully furnished including many restored traditional tools and artefacts. Secluded overlooking the valley yet within easy reach (5 mins) of Barga. The farmhouse has two double bedrooms (each with en-suites), two twin bedrooms and a further bathroom, a modern fully equipped kitchen, living room, terrace and pool area. There is a large flat grassed area c.2 acres. The pool (10mx5.5m) is above ground and constant 1.2m deep. The old mettaio or chestnut store outside has been restored and houses a summer kitchen, outside bathroom and covered terrace . It is a perfect retreat for large groups or extended families to holiday together with plenty of space. Please note :The Barn (4 bedrooms, 3 bath) can be rented along with the house if required.

The main house has two double bedrooms (each with en-suites), two twin bedrooms and a further bathroom, a modern fully equipped kitchen, and living room. There is also a sofa bed in the lounge. There is a laundry room below the main house. The Mattaio (the old chestnut store) has a large fully fitted kitchen, large covered terrace for eating outside, and a toilet and shower room. This saves family and friends having to go into the houses from the pool area. *** PLEASE NOTE *** if you require additional accommodation the Barn can be rented along with the main house. This ensures that the property is yours exclusively. Please contact owner for rates. The Barn has 2 double bedrooms (each with en-suites), two twin bedrooms and a further bathroom, a modern fully equipped kitchen, and living room.

The property was originally a working farm built on an outcrop of land, called locally “La Colline di Formici” which roughly translates as the ant hill. This is a finger of land jutting out from the mountain with spectacular views of the valley below. Villa Collette is totally secluded yet just 5 minutes drive away from the beautiful old town of Barga and about 10 minutes away from a huge hyper market. Barga is situated 40 kilometres north of Lucca at the southern tip of the National parks known as the Garfagnana which sits between the Apuan Alps and the Appenines in the very north of Tuscany. Barga hosts art, opera and jazz festivals as well as weekly markets.The property is less than one hour from Pisa Airport, 30 minutes from the medieval walled city of Lucca, 1.5 hrs from Florence; 2.25 hrs from Siena; and 1 hour from the Italian Riviera resorts of Viarreggio and Forte dei Marme. Other Airports include Florence (90mins); Genoa (2.5 hrs); Bologna (2.5hrs), Bergamo (3 hrs).

We had a lovely time, the Villa is fantastic – you’ve done an amazing job with beautiful
