The property was originally a working farm built on an outcrop of land, called locally “La Colline di Formici” which roughly translates as the ant hill. This is a finger of land jutting out from the mountain with spectacular views of the valley below. Villa Collette is totally secluded yet just 5 minutes drive away from the beautiful old town of Barga and about 10 minutes away from a huge hyper market. Barga is situated 40 kilometres north of Lucca at the southern tip of the National parks known as the Garfagnana which sits between the Apuan Alps and the Appenines in the very north of Tuscany. Barga hosts art, opera and jazz festivals as well as weekly markets. The property is less than one hour from Pisa Airport, 30 minutes from the medieval walled city of Lucca, 1.5 hrs from Florence; 2.25 hrs from Siena; and 1 hour from the Italian Riviera resorts of Viarreggio and Forte dei Marme. Other Airports include Florence (90mins); Genoa (2.5 hrs); Bologna (2.5hrs), Bergamo (3 hrs).
