You can find Casa Pettirosso in the quiet little village of San Macario in Piano, just 6 km from the centre of Lucca. In just twenty minutes you can be on the beautiful Viareggio shoreline and only fifty minutes by car will be sufficient to get to Florence. The village lies in the bosom of fertile hills famous for their precious vineyards and olive groves that produce olive oil with a strong and sharp flavour.

Casa Pettirosso is surrounded by a wide park of tall pine trees and shady oaks providing an ideal space for children to run and play safely.

Pettirosso is about 10 mins from the walls of Lucca. Pisa airport is a 30 mins drive. Viareggio, on the Versilian coast, is about 30 mins and Forte dei Marmi a further 10 mins along the coast. Florence takes about 60 mins by carand a similar time by bus. The nearest motorway exit is about 8 mins. There are two general stores within five minutes and several major supermarkets 8 mins away. The nearest restaurants are within five minutes.

Eating : This is everyone's main concern , so within walking distance from the property there is a very good Osteria - Alimentari called 'Il Ciancino', in front of it there is a wood oven Pizzeria and just after this there's a really good ice cream shop. Also , crossing the Bigongiari farm fields, you can easily get to the 'La Salute ' bar for a good morning breakfast or an evening 'aperitivo' . In Farneta , again crossing the fields on the other side where the bar is , there is the Restaurant- Pizzeria 'Mangiafoco'.

However , going towards Lucca there is the Coop Supermarket and the Lidl on the opposite side.

Tenuta di Forci .: This 'Tenuta di Forci ' is about 4 -5 km away from the property and here it is possible to buy and taste Forci's red and white wine , olive oil and honey .

Relaxing

So much of Italy is fast paced, which is what made this home the perfect place for us to finish our holiday. It is centrally located to many sights and was wonderful to come home to after a hectic tourist packed day. Pretty, Spacious, homely, comfortable,clean felt like our home away from home. Had an amazing time relaxing on the back porch soaking up the sun and the view. Had 4 adults and 3 young children - was plenty of space for all and the children loved exploring the garden. The owners were accomodating and provided highchairs and cots. We would stay here again without hesitation. Thankyou.

perfect spot to explore Northern Tuscany

Great location as only 10mins drive outside Lucca, and a 10 minute walk to the village which had great bakery, gelateria and pizzeria, but still very quiet and not overlooked with large garden and pool. Other villas we looked at were further in the hills but for sightseeing, they would have been too isolated, and too far to the motorway. There's also a working farm five mins walk away which also has a farm shop so great for kids to visit and also for local produce.
The owner, Giovanni and his brother could not have been better hosts and any questions or queries we had were quickly answered. In all, a great holiday with our 20month old son.

Excellent base in the countryside outside Lucca

We had a wonderful week in this villa. The spacious garden was fabulous for the children, it was a pleasant walk to the nearby village and it was a great base to explore the surrounding area. Hospitality and company of Giovanni, his brother and father was a bonus, as were the firelflies at night and the hoopoes on the lawn! Highly recommended

A lovely place for spending peaceful holidays

Just returned from a one week holiday in Pettirosso holiday house. It was a perfect holiday for our four boys between 10 and 17 years, the two dogs and for us.

We enjoyed the lovely pool, the lawn for sunbathing with deckchairs and the possibility to play football, the table-tennis room, the beautiful scenery around the quiet located house and the interior with lovely typical toscany furnishing. The property was clean and well-maintained.

The owner and his family were very friendly and warm-hearted. They were always available for questions regarding the house or activities and attractions in the surrounding area, without ever beeing importunate.

We made daytrips to Livorno, Pisa, Viareggio, Pietrosanta and of course a couple of times to Lucca.

In case we go to Tuscany again some day, we would love to stay at "Il Petirosso" again.

Fantastic House, Wonderful Holiday

Just back from a brilliant week in Giovanni's house. We couldn't have been more happy with the house, the beautiful surroundings and the welcome from Giovanni and his family. The property was beautifully maintained, comfortable and perfect for a relaxing holiday. We had 6 adults and 1 toddler and there was more than enough space for us all too relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. Lucca is only a short drive and a fantastic place to visit. We also had day trips to Florence, Barga and the mountains. The cafe and restaurants within walking distance were all lovely and typically italian rather than the more expensive touristy places in the cities but all so friendly and helpful.
Would love to go back one day.
