13th century lovely studio apartment nicely restored in the town centre, 2 min by walk to the main street from which you can easily walk up to the Cathedral in Piazza Grande or you can dip down across the several narrows streets enjoying the beautiful palaces, churches and typical shops. This apartment was born like a painting studio for my father who had loved Montepulciano, for all his life, more than everything else for the breathtaking views of the countryside, the quietness and obviously the good vine. Cunningly reorganized by my mom, the apartment retains the original features such as wooden beamed ceiling and open fireplace. If you are looking for peacefulness, relax and something pure, you should come and try this lovely accommodation! The best is for people who love the artworks and who like to find out and enjoy every secret corner of this beautiful town as well as taste the special feeling of the ancient world.

Pearl of 14th century, Montepulciano, lies to the southeast of Siena, on the top of one of the hills that separates the Valdichiana from the Val d’Orcia that was recently recognized by UNESCO as part of the World Heritage for the breathtaking landscapes celebrated by Renaissances’ painters. Originally Etruscan, Montepulciano preserve an 8th century fortress and medieval churches and palazzos. Chiefly known for its wine, Montepulciano offers excellent restaurants, café’s, wine-bars and shops. In July and August the town becomes a stage of live festivals with the International Arts Workshop, the local 'Bruscello' and the 'Bravio delle Botti' with a spectacular barrel race. It's an ideal base for discovering the wonderful Tuscany with Pienza, Montalcino, Chiusi, Bagno Vignoni (hot springs water) all between 14/35km of scenic drives. Siena 65 km and Perugia 67 Km. Easily reachable from the major airports of Florence and Rome, is one of the most unspoiled countryside in Italy, enjoy it!

Lovely apartment in the historic centre

We loved the apartment. It was exactly as pictured on your web-site and the rental agency's web-site - a perfect fit for the historic centre, quiet, and very functional, and extremely well located. And it worked well without a car. We walked or used the orange bus and got bus and train connections from the autostazione. (We tood side-trips to Pienze, San Quirico, Siena and Cortona.)
We also found the tourist office staff helpful (particularly one young woman who was very fluent in English) for advice on buses and trains, and for buying tickets.
We went to Caffe Poliziano our first morning -- and liked it very much (and even got a spot on the balcony for breakfast). We went every now and then afterward for coffee or more -- and for a breakfast on the patio again on our last day. We also bought a panforte -- which we saw in Siena for a lot more! And a Caffe cup and saucer as a reminder.
The laundromat also worked well, and the grocery store, and the various other smaller stores, including the alimentari close by on the Corso -- to pick up forgotten or last minute items. I also picked up some extra-virgin olive oil at the co-op on the Corso which I intend to use on salads all summer.
We tried Acquaquetta restaurant (lots of fun) and made a point of trying out lots of Pecorino cheese and marmalades, wines and desserts that were new to us.
Finally we have had a wonderful stay, thanks again!

I can't thank you enough. Your apartment is charming, well appointed and the location excellent. From the day I made the reservations until our last day there, we were very satisfied. You provided all that was needed and more. The experience exceeded my expectations. This was my fourth time in Montepulciano and I always look forward to going back. Estar en esta pequeña monada nos relajó mucho; en ella todo tiene su lugar y con esto el tiempo es medieval. También constituyo una invitación a la salida, al encuentro con los campos sembrados o preparados para la siembra, una invitación recorrerlos hasta el cansar. Siena o, por el lado contrario Assisi, con esto votos de pobreza violados por la comercialización… si embargo siempre hermosos. Gracias por permitirnos estar aquí.. Gracias por compartir la niebla mágica y las lunas soleadas…

Wonderful stay, food, wine and landscapes!

We have had a wonderful time, without any problems, although trying to translate Italian parking iconography is not easy. Valeria recommended Trattoria Evoe' o Trattoria di Cagnano. Both it and the Osteria del Conte we found extremely good. The best (although more expensive) restaurant is La Grotta at bottom of the hill (San Biagio).
We have been as far as Perugia and Assisi as well as exploring the villages nearby, and only Pienza is a disappointment, not for the views which are wonderful but the coach loads of tourist are awful (c.f. Assisi).
The shops on the Corso are really pleasant and the Caffe' Poliziano is a joy - we have breakfast there every morning. Of all the shops selling wine, Cantina del Redi is one of the best - most of the others, especially those that are not the center of a grower, stock a wide range but are a bit exploitative.
The market by the bus station on Thursday morning was great!

Great experience!

The apartment is beautiful and very well located. We two enjoyed Montepulciano - it was the highlight of our visit - and we had already been to Rome, Venice and Lake of Como.
For future guest:
1) there is a shuttle bus - servizio urbano - that can be used to move you around Montepulciano and to the bus station. There is a stop just up the street but we caught it at Piazza Grande. The first one arrives at 07.45. I don't know at what time it stops. Tickets can be purchased at bus station or tobacco shops (0.95 $/bt).
2) There is a lovely grocery store near the bus station and just past the round about (looking down at the bus stop it's on the left). Of course, also a lot of specialty shopping in town.
Anyway, great place. Will certainly recommend to others.
