Farm house one mile from Pienza. Pienza is a historic centre of rare and exquisite beauty. It is found in Tuscany, 40 miles from Siena, in a landscape of evocative beauty. My house faces an expansive valley dominated by Mt. Amiata. An isolated structure, it is surrounded by fields and plenty of beautiful views. The house is called 'Colombaio,' and is characterized by a tower that was once a home for pigeons. The tower structure is typical to the Tuscany area. The house has recently been renovated and retain all the character and charm of the original building with wooden ceilings and cotto floors.

Near by are the picturesque abbeys of Sant’Antimo and Monte Oliveto Maggiore, Bagno Vignoni, Pienza, and towns of art as Montepulciano, Chiusi, Arezzo and Perugia. We are at about half an hour driving from Montalcino and three quarters of an hour from the Chianti region, Siena, Orvieto, San Gimignano; little more than an hour driving from Florence, the Tyrrhenian Sea, Viterbo and Assisi, and less than two hours far from Rome. From the farm you can clearly see the profile of Mount Amiata, whose top, equipped with excellent skiing plants, is only thirty kilometres far. How to reach Podere Colombaio from Pienza: From Pienza follow the road Monte Amiata (Gallina); after 1 Km at the sign Pieve di Corsignano turn right, after 100 meter go straight in a gravel road at the third house turn left. Podere Colombaio is 20 meter ahead.

On the ground floor there are an apartment of 75 sqm (sleeps 4+2), you will find the following rooms: quite large kitchen/living room with doors leading outside. From the living room, there is a small entrance that leads to the two twin bedroom.. From the entrance you will find two small but comfortable bathrooms: one with shower and the other with a bathtub. The kitchen is equipped with all dishes and a sufficient number of pots and pans. There are all necessary appliances: oven, gas stovetop, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine. Linens and towels are available for all the bedrooms and bathrooms. A free Wi-Fi Internet Connection is available troughout the building.

How to arrive by car:: From Milano: motorway A1 (Autostrada del Sole) in direction of Roma until Valdichiana exit (about 386 Km), turn left in direction of Bettolle-Torrita di Siena -Pienza (22 Km). From Roma: motorway A1 (Autostrada del Sole) in direction of Milano until Chiusi exit (about 155 Km), follow the sign Chianciano-Montepulciano-Pienza on SS. 146 (34 Km). How to reach Podere Colombaio from Pienza: From Pienza follow the road Monte Amiata (Gallina); after 1 Km at the sign Pieve di Corsignano turn right, after 100 meter go straight in a gravel road at the third house turn left. Podere Colombaio is 20 meter ahead.

A wonderful stay

We are a young family with a three year old child. We have just returned from a two week stay at Podere Colombaio. We had an excellent holiday, the house was exactly as described on the website and totally lived up to our expectations. The location was perfect, the view amazing, the tranquility etc. All one needs for a wonderfully relaxing holiday. The layout of the house suited us perfectly and our hosts seem to have though of everything.

It felt private and homely. Our hosts, Lucia and Maurizio were wonderfully welcoming and we hardly knew they were there but they were there when we needed something.

The house is five minute walk from Pienza which has a host of amenities, everything we needed we could get in the small town. There are numerous restaurants too.

I can highly recommend Podere Colombaio and I think we will certainly return.

We recently stayed at Podere Colombaio just outside the wonderful town of Pienza. This is a very authentic and private apartment overlooking amazing views of Tuscany! It is very spacious and great quality with beautiful historical features.

The location is perfect. With Pienza less than a mile away and then you have Montalcino, Montepulciano, and many quaint villages just minutes away. Amazing restuarants and wine!

The owners Maurizio and his mother were great and provided wonderful Italian hospitality. The apartment was very clean, comfortable and well maintained.

Podere Colombaio is a great authentic Tuscan experience!
