Luxury Tuscan farmhouse with pool and magnificent views
A beautifully restored hillside farmhouse with truly spectacular uninterrupted open views situated in 25 acres of peaceful olive groves, farmland and woodland, in the Park of the Val D'Orcia (now an UNESCO world heritage site). The house has spacious accommodation, finished to a high standard with hand made terra cotta paved floors and outside paving, colour washed walls, antique furniture and well equipped kitchen and bathrooms. All the bedrooms have ceiling fans. A beautifully situated large terrace shaded by two old oak trees provides a magical setting for meals outside at a hand made wrought iron table which seats 12 people. The 12 x 6 metre pool is situated in a formal hedged rose garden with plenty of paved space for sunbathing on teak loungers and sunbeds under large sunshades. The house and pool are beautifully looked after by our housekeeper who can provide excellent cooking on request, and the gardens are cared for by our gardener. Cleaning is included in the rent.

The house is on a south facing hillside in the southern part of the outstandingly beautiful Val D'Orcia park. Spectacular views extend over miles of typical Tuscan hills and valleys, including Monte Amiata, Monte Cetona and ancient hilltop towns and villages such as Celle sul Rigo (7 km) and San Casciano dei Bagni (10 km, thermal baths, tennis and riding). Radicofani (5 kms) with its dramatically situated ancient fortress, has shops, restaurants and bars. The house is within easy car distance of Cetona (24km), Monte Amiata (walking, winter skiing 30km), Pienza (32km 25min), Montepulciano (31km 30 min), Montalcino (50km), Castiglione del Lago (50 km, lake, water sports, golf), Orvieto (55km), Siena (83km 75 mins), Perugia (110km), Florence (140km) and Rome (180km). Chiusi (25km 30 mins drive), on the main rail line with fast trains to Florence (1 hr) and Rome (1.5 hrs) is an access point for the A1 autostrada from Rome to Florence. Large supermarkets are in Sarteano(17.5km) and Chiusi.

Notes to the rental rates

Rental charges cover water, electricity, gas for cooking and hot water and 3 hours pool and house cleaning on 6 days per week. High quality bed and bath linen is provided and changed weekly. Pool towels are also provided. The costs of telephone calls, use of computer, central heating and firewood are not included in the rent and must be paid for separately. A refundable security deposit of £500 is required at the time of final payment. The pool is open from the last week of May, weather permitting, until the end of September inclusive. Changeover days are usually Saturdays but this is negotiable. We accept sterling cheques, most credit cards and bank drafts or transfers in sterling.

We had a terrific time at your home in Tuscany. We will remember how beautiful things were: the house, grounds, garden, pool. Also, & surprise to us, we really enjoyed the location. The views were wonderful, & the daily trips into nearby towns made the week especially memorable. We visited Orvieto, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Pienza. Saw sights & did food shopping. Your detailed info on the region was very helpful as we planned our days. Kim, our 'resident cook' enjoyed using your 'River Cafe' cookbooks. In fact, he just ordered the cookbooks from Amazon.com. Rachele [property's housekeeper] is magnificent. In short, and in closing, our only complaint is that we were only able to stay a week (2004).
A place like this exists nowhere else on earth. The expansive vistas, charming hill towns and lovely 'home away from home' will remain forever etched in my memory. Rachele is a real find -helpful, cheerful & an excellent cook! What a vacation! (2003).
