Montepulciano is a hilltop town situated between the valleys of the Valdichiana and the unique Val d'Orcia, now recognised by UNESCO as a world heritage site. Florence, Siena, Perugia are all within easy reach (60-90 mins by car) and Rome is also possible to visit within the day preferably using the train service from Chiusi. Little known medieval villages, old churches, scenic walks, hot springs and Etruscan sites abound in this region famed for its natural beauty and artistic treasures. Lake Trasimeno is about 30 mins drive away and the Tuscan coast about 90 mins.
