Il Civettaio is a typical Maremma Tuscan farmhouse, dating back to 1700. It has been elegantly restored into apartments. This apartment is furnished with family and traditional furniture, to maintain intact the feeling of land of Maremma Toscana. The swimming pool, numerous activities and our organic products to taste: wine Montecucco doc and extra virgin olive oil, and our cozy restaurant for dinner frame your stay here at Civetaio. In 8 hectares of vineyards and the 4 hectares olive grove, all conducted by organic agricultural techniques, we produce Montecucco doc red wine and extra virgin olive oil.

Istrice lies on the second floor with a beautiful view over the hills of Monteleoni. You have big open-kitchen in the living room with fireplace, all facilities to cook and a bottle of our own extra-virgin olive oil. There are 2 bedrooms with bathroom, wardrobe and night table. Outside there are tables and chairs under the pine trees and you can have your aperitivo or dinner there and see the sunset. Bake your home-made pizza in our outdoor 300 year-old pizza oven which makes delicious pizzas and bred. Or join the others at our BBQ for a small talk. Start your day in the swimming pool 7x15 which is surrounded by lavender and olive trees. On request you can have dinner in our small restaurant exclusivly for our guests. We serve traditional maremma food from our own biological products and from those of our neighbours. All year long you can help us by seasonal work, take back home your own made olive oil.

Surrounded by woods and our wine and olive orchards you can see the beautiful hills of the Amiata ex-vulcano. To the southwest you'll see the Montleoni area. If you are a mountain biker then this is the right place, start your tours in each direction in front of the door. The hot water spas of Petriolo are 15km and of Saturnia 50km away. 8 km of splendid free beach between Castiglione della Pescaia and Marina di Grosetto are ca. 25min by car. Don't miss the Uccellina natural park. Visit the large amount of churches and cultural places of the South of Tuscany. St. Antimo with there Gregorian chants 7 times a day. The archeological places of the Etruscan culture for ex.ample Roselle and Vetulonia, with its nice museum. Montalcino with his famous wine all places in about 15-20 km. The city of Siena 35 km away, Fiorenze 1 hour by car. And don't forget to discover the beauty of the medivial villages nearby or the impressing cities of Tuff, Pitigliano, Sorano and Sovana.

Wir waren 1 Woche im August 2008 auf Il Civettaio.Besteht aus insgesamt 5 Appartements unterschiedlicher Größe. Wir hatten die Wohnung Istrice, die ich persönlich am schönsten fand. Vor allen Fenstern sind Mückennetze, was wirklich für ausreichend Schlaf sorgte und man konnte immer die Fenster geöffnet lassen. Das angebotene Abendessen (27€ inkl. Wein und Softdrinks) war sehr lecker und preislich nicht zu schlagen. 1x die Woche hat abends ein Pizzabackevent im Freien stattgefunden, was alle super fanden, vor allem Kinder. Der Pool ist super, auch für Kinder, da ein Einstieg mit Treppen und Gesamttiefe von 1,40m. Es gibt Hängematten und genügend Liegen. Sehr angenehm. Die Lage des Anwesens war auch super, da man zum Meer fahren konnte und Florenz, Siena etc alle nicht zu weit entfernt sind. Die Wohnung ist geschmackvoll eingerichtet, die Bäder mit Bidet, Dusche etc perfekt. Auch die Küche, alles top. Also wir können es nur wärmstens weiterempfehlen und würden selbst auch wieder hinfahren. Preis-Leistung Perfekt!
