In the most beautiful golden triangle of Pisa - Florence - Sienna stands self-caterings farmhouse ' Fonte Migliari ' in Montecatini Val di Cecina in the province of Pisa. Upon a Hill which commands one of the most stunning views of Tuscany stands the typical and beautiful old stone farmhouse Fonte Migliari, ( 1820 ) carefully renovated ( 2007 ), set in the fascinating hills near Montecatini V.C. and with a splendid view of the whole valley of Volterra.

The large garden surrounds the great swimming pool (14 m x 7 m ) with its stone terraces, with deckchairs and sunshades. All this is set in an extremely panoramic location, offering guests the opportunity to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing holiday. The location of the property offers tranquillity and privacy together with a unique panorama, but it is also a perfect base for making pleasant excursions to places in the surrounding area, such as the historic cities of Florence, Luca, Pisa and Sienna ( hardly more than an hour’s drive away ).

Further Details: Coast/Beach; Nearest beach, Cecina and Bibbona at about 35 kilometres (35 minutes by car).

Montecatini Val di Cecina has a welcoming bar, where you can pick up on all the local gossip! It has a Co-op general store and a bakery with lovely fresh bread. There is a bank and a post office, and a weekly market ( Fridaymorning ). There are now even 3 (2 of them new) restaurants that serve typical Tuscan cuisine at very reasonable prices. Throughout the year the Tuscan towns and cities are lively with fairs, festivals, theme-celebrations and historic re-enactments from the middle ages with street markets, suppers, tastings and fireworks.

Surrounding of the podere: VOLTERRA is a beautiful walled medieval and Etruscan city. The city is mostly pedestrianised, which is fantastic for walking and sightseeing. The countryside north of Volterra , with the city of SAN GIMIGNANO, is breathtaking with many medieval villages perched on wooded hillsides. There are many beautiful palazzos, spas and vineyards to visit in the area. Also the beaches are all within a short distance ( 35 km ). In the summer there are many musical events: Puccini opera at Torre del Lago, whilst in Lucca, during July, several of the world’s best musicians play in the amphitheatre. There are also several jazz festivals. There are many superb restaurants within 15 mins of the house. Fungi and truffles are some of the local specialities, olive oil and white and red wines from this aria are one of the best in the world.

About the podere ' Fonte Migliari ' : 3 terraces, pool and garden The property is superb for outdoor living as it enjoys sunshine from dawn to dusk. The gardens provide perfect areas for relaxation and for children to play. The property is surrounded by 3 terraces. A pergola of climbing roses and the gazebo provides dappled shade. There are views through the olive trees into the valley. The large terracotta tiled south terrace near the swimming pool, that is filled with our own natural well is a sun worshippers' dream. All terraces have fabulous views across the vineyards and valley. Podere Fonte Migliari has appeared in the TV programme 'A House in Tuscany' and in several magazines.

Golf:

The nearest golf course is found at no more than 40 a minutes’ drive near the town of San Miniato, a small village rich in art and history. The “Fontevivo Golf Club” is easily accessed from the Florence-Pisa-Livorno motorway, 2 kms from the San Miniato exit. The golf club is family-owned and -run and was built in 1989. It has 9 holes, par 62 – s.s.s 60, for a total length of 1.892 m. The clubhouse offers a restaurant and a bar. You will also find tennis courts, a soccer field and a putting green. The green fee is about € 30. Booking is recommended on Sundays. Closed on Mondays. Golf carts available on request.

Cecina and Bibona are the nearest beaches ( 30 minutes drive )

Paradise in Tuscany!

The photos of your wonderful home popped up in preparing my review and they immediately whisked me back! The photos do not do justice to this beautiful property. It is ideally located just a short drive from Volterra and offered easy access to numerous Tuscan cities. The property offers sweeping, panoramic views of the the countryside and the lights of Volterra are beautiful at night. The property is nicely appointed and the pool is great. It was a pleasure to meet with the property owners, who were very nice and offered great advice on travel, dinning, etc. This property would be great for a group of people traveling together who would also like their own space as there are three units available. There's a supermarket about 10 minutes away but the town of Montecatini is just a few minutes down the road and has essentials, i.e. pharmacy, bakery, cafe/bar, restaurant, hardware store, etc. The farmers market on Friday was nice. Our apartment (Bosco) was very clean! We would highly recommend this property and look forward to visiting again!
