The jaw-dropping splendid 17th century castle, Castello di Santa Cristina, (complete with fairy tale turret) has been the property of the noble Caterini family for generations. The castle's nearby 18th Century ivy-clad farmhouse and out-buildings have been sympathetically and skilfully renovated and converted, with careful attention to retain their authenticity, offering comfort and privacy in a pleasant combination of rustic charm and modern day convenience. There are now 5 attractive cottages accommodating between 4, 4/5 or 6 and 2 large, charming apartments each sleeping 8 with 4 en suite double bedrooms, All are tastefully furnished with typical, traditional and comfortable rustic furniture in keeping with the locality.

French doors open from the terrace into a large, very light living room with a handsome fireplace, beamed ceiling and terracotta tiled floor. The furnishings are comfortable and traditional, with attractive lamps, curtains and old prints. The separate custom-made kitchen of traditional tiles and heavy wooden doors has a dishwasher, and the large downstairs shower room houses a washing machine. Upstairs the double bedroom overlooks the main terrace and garden. Its furnishings are bright and pretty; a second more traditional twin-bedded room has good antique furniture and the third has charming patchwork covers. There is plenty of storage space, room to sit and relax, and a second small shower room. This is cottage living in some style.
