Many Thanks - an excellent house in a hill-top village. An ideal setting for an await from it all holiday within easy reach of all the tourist sites. Casciana Alta has two well stocked village shops and a handy Pizzeria, and is just a short drive to a supermarket. A drive through the surrounding countryside gives you a real feel for the area.Wonderful value - will recommend to all our friends.

All facilities are available and clean. Large enough for family with 3 children (little bit incovenient that one has to sleep in living room). Lovely quiet Italian village. Lovely landlady (who speaks no word of English) and friendly neighbours. Small convenience store 50m away.
Bit noisy on Monday and Thursday mornings due to cleaning on the main street. BAD thing is that it is at least 45min away from main sites (Pisa, Florence, Livorno, Lucca, Volterra) and beach, but GOOD thing is that it is max. 1 hour away from all these sites.

We enjoyed our stay in Casciana Alta very much. If you're looking for something quiet and cozy, far away from tourist masses and meaningless entertainment that's the place to be. Located in a medieval village without any tourist features the small house is the perfect place for a short but very effective retreat from everyday's bustle.
It offers every convenience necessary is kept very well, perfectly clean and offers lots of space for two adults and maybe two kids.

Although there is a bus line to Casciana Terme and Pontedera you might find it a bit limiting to figure out all the traffic connections. Most places of interest are spread all over Tuscany, so make sure to have a car available.

The small backyard is a beautiful place to relax after a day's trip to the historic sites or to the beach.

Don't expect clear views to the scenery directly. You'll get a very nice view to the landscape from the main square though only a few steps from the house.

Mamma Lina the landlady is very helpful, friendly and discreet, you'll feel immediately "at home". She'll even cook for you upon request. Don't miss her delicious pasta!

If you care for absolute silence, be aware that Casciana Alta is not a tourist attraction that dies off after the buses have left. It's a typical italian village, which means that you'll hear all kinds of little noises till midnight because the Italians living-room after sunset is the piazza. Also most italian cars seem to have signal horns instead of brakes...

All in all the two weeks in Casciana Alta belonged to the nicest holidays we ever had.
