Tastefully restored 16th C. country house with bags of character
LA CANONICA, a listed building dating from 1501, has been recently restored to a high standard in accordance with the requirements of the Dept. of Fine Arts. Situated in a quiet medieval hamlet it is within easy reach of the beautiful Gulf of Poets, the stunning coastline of the Cinque Terre, the ski resort of Cerreto. The walled city of Lucca which Prince Charles described as the most beautiful in the world is just a train journey away. LA CANONICA is the perfect place to relax. There is a peaceful garden and patio, incl pizza oven, with hillside views. But if you want a bit more activity, there are lovely hikes nearby, two swimming pools a couple of kms. away, the thermal baths at Equi Terme, painting holidays, riding, musical evenings in summer, a weekly market in nearby Fivizzano, not to mention the many 'sagras' or food festivals held locally. Good food, good wine, a quiet patio and garden in which to relax. La Canonica is the ideal location. The perfect escape.

| Notes: | Whilst there are three bedrooms in the house, the sofa on the mezzanine floor (sleeping gallery) converts to two single beds. However it is suitable only for one adult or big child as the stairs are quite steep. Though the seating in the living room is for four, the sofa on the mezzanine floor seats at least two and is a very pleasant area to while away the hours. The main bathroom has a bath with shower, w.c. sink and bidet. Children are welcome as there is a patio and garden, including an original wood-burning pizza oven. The house is suitable for elderly or infirm as it is all one storey (except for the mezzanine floor). Access to utility room is by three steep steps. There is gas central heating as well as a wood burning stove. La Canonica because of its thick walls and double glazing, stays warm in winter and cool in summer. |
