Photos and Description of this Fivizzano holiday house Two bedrooms, bathroom, sleep 4 - studio, shower room sleep 2 - Total 6

Having long been lovers of Italy we explored the North, seeking a region that was undiscovered by tourists, yet alive, and truly Italian. In Lunigiana we found the 'Hidden Tuscany', lying between the Apuane Alps and the Appennines, an unspoilt area that has retained the real Italian atmosphere. In Gassano and Rometta we discovered authentic historic Italian villages, vibrant and occupied by Italians of all ages, yet with easy access to modern facilities, motorways, airports, and public transport; around 1/2 hour from the coast and 1 hour from the airports at Genoa and Pisa. Gassano is a perched village, typical of the Maritime Alps whilst Rometta lays in a valley. Gassano is mainly pedestrianised with narrow twisting lanes on different levels and interlinking arched passages, is accessed from either end and Casa Fina is at the western end of the village. Casa Fina and Casa Canoa Studio can provide accommodation for 2,4 or 6 guest on weekly terms as low as £80 per person per week.

A peaceful retreat in Tuscany

allan550 Canberra, Australia
Review Submitted: August 26, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
This is a well maintained property in a medieval village with stupendous views from the balcony overlooking the mountains - you can spend hours in peaceful meditation looking at the views. Everything in the property was clean and in good working order and we encoutered no problems. There are few tourists in the neighbourhood so some effort is required to suss out the places that you think are worth visiting. The locals are very friendly and helpful and a visit to the village pub is strongly recommended - helps if you speak some Italian! - but they sell excellent local wine. The shop keepers were also obliging and helpful. The owners guide to reaching the village and apartment was comprehensive and accurate as well as an outline of the restaurants and some tourist attractions. Getting out of Pisa airport is a little harder. A visit to Lucca (going over the mountains) is well worthwhile as is visiting the marble quarries at Carrara. Would strongly recommend this property and location - real Tuscany!

I just wanted to thank you for recommending that we rent the Gassano Villa. We LOVED it. The village was amazing and the people we met there so friendly that it became the highlight of what was a long and varied trip around Europe.

Thanks again for a wonderful place to stay. My sister from the US is keen to return again as well so I have forwarded your details to her, she was part of our sisterly reunion during this visit

Nice stay in Tuscany

Paxman Sweden
Review Submitted: August 27, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We stayed in Casa Fina one weak in July. The old mideval village is cosy and have one small shop and a bakery. You have a wonderful view from the terasse. The property is clean and funktional for four persons.Within comfortable drivingdistance you have the coast(aprx.one hour) La Specia and the nice old town Lucca with magnificent old churches. If you like narrow roads and small villages in the mountains this is a good place to stay.
(Good for bikers though we didn´t bring any)
Don´t forget earpropps the Church is rather close and the bell sounds every 30min. But you get used to it after a few nights, we did.

Idyllic location for experiencing

clare533 Southport, Merseyside, UK
Review Submitted: August 14, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
These properties are real medieval buildings in a picturesque walled hilltop village in northern Tuscany. They have been renovated to a high standard and are equipped with all conveniences. They are clean and well maintained. The village is hidden away in a peaceful location, with the nearest large shops about 15 minutes away by car, and the coast around an hour. The owner was very helpful to us when we had some problems, and was always on the end of the phone, as was a nearby housekeeper. I would recommend this property, and the nearby Equi Terme spa.
