'La Rondine di Mare' is a charming villa set in an acre of Mediterranean countryside that boasts spectacular sea views. It is on a quiet road not overlooked by other properties. The house is very big and nicely divided so that everyone has some private space. The sitting room which has three double glass doors that lead outside. Two wings lead off the sitting room. The first leads the master bedroom. The other wing leads past the kitchen and dinning room, to the bunk bed room and shower room. The dinning room has a large round table which is ideal for feeding children or using when it rains and the kitchen is long and easily fits several adults cooking simultaneously. The kitchen has another exit that leads to the car park and terrace. Two short, external flights of stairs lead to the two guest suits. The house is decorated elegantly with an eclectic style of the well travelled.

Monte Argentario is an Italian well-kept secret. This peninsular on the Tuscan coastline is renowned for its spectacular setting and seashore. Two parallel roads lined with pine trees and kilometres of sandy beach link the peninsula to mainland Italy. Prototypical Italian hairpin roads wind their way round the mountainside to the ports of Porto Ercole and Porto Santo Stefano. Poised between the mountain as its backdrop and the Mediterranean Sea is the picturesque Bay of Cala Piccola.

Additional information about rental rates

  • NB:

    The price quoted for April - May and September - October 2009 and 2010 is discounted. For this price we offer the house without the guest suits e.g. 1 double room, 1 single and 1 bunk bed room. The cost for the whole villa is 1.500 euro.

    We are also flexible about the length of stay in low season (April, May, September and October).

    Access to the beach club costs roughly 40 euro per day per umbrella plus 6.50 euro per person for a maximum of six people. You can hire a second umbrella if required. There are other beaches in the area that are less exclusive and cheaper.

    Arrival is after 17.00 and departure is as early as possible but no later 10.00 on Saturdays.
  • There is a security deposit of 750 Euro per week from which the telephone bill and any serious damages will be deducted but not the odd broken plate. All money transactions are by bank transfer.
  • A cleaner is available except in August. They are paid locally and cost 11 Euro per hour.

  • Two wings lead off the sitting room. The first leads to a single bedroom, shared bathroom and the master bedroom. The master bedroom has two windows which were positioned so that each frames an island view (Giglio and Giannutri). The other wing leads the kitchen to the bunk bed room and shower room. The house is on two levels and built on a small rise so that the sitting room, gardens and kitchen are on the main floor and the guest suits underneath. Two short, external flights of stairs lead to the guest suits. One suite has a double bedroom and bathroom. The other suite has a double bedroom, a bedroom with two single beds and shared shower room.

There are 3 terraces. The main one off the sitting room has a teak dining table that seats up to 15 people and several trees that create very welcome shade from the summer sun. The gardens and grass lawns are ideal for sunbathing or playing catch with your children. The view from this side of the house is of the sun set and the island of Giglio. On a clear day you can also see the islands of Monte Cristo and Corsica. The second terrace has a bamboo roof and teak table for 4. We like breakfasting here or having an drink while looking at the island of Giannutri. The kitchen terrace is a useful space for your children to play in while you cook or take a break at the other side of the house.

The Monte Argentario peninsular: You can explore the near by port of Santo Stefano and the marina at Porto Ercole with their fish stalls, markets, boutiques and restaurants. Take the ferry to the islands of Giglio and Giannutri or visit the inland medieval towns of Magliana in Toscana and Capalbio. Or even swim under the waterfall at the Saturnia hot springs.

A perfect location for all ages.

the photos don't do this house justice
it's peaceful, private (on a private road) and silent! the perfect place to relax with friends or familly. The view is amazing. at night it is very romantic with no light pollution you can see millions of stars (especially shooting stars!).
the house itself is big and full of light with huge windows leading onto the terraces. it is very much a familly home and we loved it.
the owners were very helpful and know the area well. The beach club is 5 mins away but if you are prepared to walk so are other undiscovered bays.

This was our first family vacation to Italy. The home was unbelieveable and more than we expected. The owners left their personal photos etc. in the home which gave it a most charming presence. The ocean was beautiful and the gardens spendid. Definitely a villa that we would highly recommend or enjoy returning to one day. The home was clean and the owner always in touch to answer any inquiries I had prior to my arrival.
