A self-catering rental with private beach club access

The villa is spectacularly located high on Monte Argentario, the stunning promontory on the southern tip of Tuscany. A steep and winding road brings to the villa allowing for an isolated position with plenty of privacy and breathtaking views over the sparkling blue Mediterranean and the Tuscan Archipelago. The villa has membership to the Cala Piccola Beach Club, a beautiful cove just five minutes from the villa. The club is completely equipped and offers a very good restaurant and bar. The club also provides a free shuttle service from the Via Panoramica to the cove and back. Free access to the club iis available for four people and one car. A small fee is charged for extra guests. The villa is within two hours driving distance to Siena, Florence and Rome. There is a beautiful 18 hole golf course between Porto Santo Stefano and Orbetello whereas Saturnia's hot springs and the Maremma's myriad of hidden treasures are all within a 50 minute drive from the villa.

The house: The House in the Clouds was given this suggestive name due to its amazing location high up on the hillside of Monte Argentario. From its perch the villa commands breathtaking views of the sea and the Tuscan Archipelago with shear cliffs as a backdrop. It's private location offers quiet balmy days with the distant sound of waves breaking on the rugged shores far below and the twittering of birds in the surrounding ilex and oak woodland for company.

The beach: A five minute drive from the house will take you down to the lovely cove of Cala Piccola. The cove has a private beach club accessible to club members only. Umbrellas and deck chairs are included and a bar and very good seafood restaurant are also available. The club also provides a free shuttle service from the cove up to the Panoramica (main) road.

Free access is available for 4 people, a small fee will be charged to extra guests.

The village and Monte Argentario: Monte Argenatrio is renowned for its striking, jagged cliffs interspersed with numerous small coves and pebbled beaches. A peninsula, Monte Argentario is linked to the mainland by two narrow sandbars encompassing the Lagoon of Orbetello, a haven for a vast number of migratory birds.

A ten minute drive from the villa will takes you to the fishing port of Santo Stefano. Here you will find a variety of restaurants and trattorie, supermarkets and chemists, banks and a post office. There is a very well stocked fish market open daily (Mondays closed) along the sea front and the ferry service will take you to most islands.

Mainland Maremma is rich with beautiful and fascinating places to explore: medieval hilltop towns, Etruscan tombs, thermal baths and ancient Roman ruins. Maremma is also acclaimed for it’s fine food and wine which can be savoured at the many Restaurants and Trattorie to be found in the area.

The house in the clouds

It was probably my best vacation in rented houses.
Warm welcome from the owner of the house. Excellent house in a charming location. Excellent sound isolation being the house far from the main road.
Everything was perfect: the interiors are very spacious and bright , the photographs on the website show it as it is.
It had all the equipment you would need for your holiday, very good arrangements for clean sheets and towels, option for cleaner.
The view is amazing!!!! We used the barbeque often and the terrace/garden is fantastically landscaped and cared.
Overall we enjoyed our stay hugely and I would recommend this property to anybody who is thinking of a genuine Italian vacation.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Pet-friendly, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway

Stunning House in the Clouds

The villa has incredible views of the sea and the island of Giglia and Monte Cristo with the stunning sunset each day over the back of Elba.
My husband and I and my 2 sons aged 18 and 14 rented the villa for a week and we were joined by 3 other family members for 2 days - to be fair the small room on the ground floor would suit young children as both the room and the ensuite shower room are quite small.

We were rather startled by the road and would recommend that anyone staying in the house gets a small car to manange the bends more easily. Also clear directions to the house would have been helpful as we stopped mid way up the private road to double check that we were in the right place! Rather scary!

The local town of Porto Santo Stefano was worth a visit both for the Fish Market - Roberto was the one that Mr Bruce told us about and the fish was fantastic - and for the many places to eat and drink and admire the yachts. We went twice to the Trattoria/Ristorante Il Moletto.Porto Ercole was more expensive and seemed more touristy (non Italian) but we did enjoy a Pizza at the Trattoria El Pirata. Where sitting OUTSIDE is essential!!

We would recommend the house for those who would like to relax and enjoy the private beach for members which is only a few minutes drive away. The carpark is now charged but the chap was very sweet and the rate varied from nothing to 3 euros for the day!

The facilities and rooms were all as per the pictures on the website and the place was spotless. The garden was a big surprise and it was a pleasure to sit on the Terrace one cloudy day and read surrounded by the lush plants and the wild life buzzing and singing in the bushes and trees!

We would recommend anyone to go to this remarkable spot in Tuscany.

Una vacanza memorabile, da ripetere!!!

Quando si è seduti nella splendida terrazza sembra di essere a bordo di una nave; il mare è proprio lì sotto..la vista è mozzafiato! Tramonti imperdibili, clima fantastico: si può pranzare in terrazza anche a mezzogiorno. Casa confortevole e ben distribuita adatta a viverci in diverse persone;camere comode e spaziose, armadi capienti. Cucina super attrezzata (ci vorrebbe uno scolapiatti più grande!!!)
Questa casa la consigliamo a chi desidera trascorrere un periodo in piena libertà e relax, lontano dal rumore, in mezzo alla natura e godendo di un giardino che è un’estasi di colori che avvolge l’intera casa.
Posto da sogno. Non vediamo l’ora di ritornarci!!!

Peaceful villa

The villa has incredible views of the sea and the islands. The sunset is breathtaking each day and with some friends and a great barbeque one doesn't even wont to go to town.My husband and I and my 2 children have rented this wonderful villa for 2 years in a row for the month of August. We highly recommend this house for those who would like to relax and enjoy the private beach for members only a few minutes drive away.
