Casa Dell’ Artista situated in the medieval perched village of Roccatederighi in the heart of Tuscany is 45 minutes drive from Siena. The house, which has its own small turret & secluded garden offers spectacular views over the Marrema Plain and the sea in the distance. This view can be enjoyed from all the windows. The old cobbled streets, which are traffic free add to the atmosphere of peace & tranquillity & is totally safe & secure. The house has been totally renovated & includes a brand new kitchen and bathroom. A particular feature is the turret, with an archer's window, adding character and history to the property. The south facing garden is another feature with its vine covered terrace, bay tree, fig tree and terracotta pots. The house has two terraces & lovely very private garden where you can sunbathe & admire the magnificent scenery. Roccatederighi is a lively village and the house is within easy walking distance of all the local shops, bars & restaurants.

The village is situated within wonderful walking & trekking country and there are numerous spectacular walks on the doorstep. The local bike shop rents out bikes and arranges a variety of tours, e.g. wine tasting, spa and history tours. A lovely swimming pool set in wonderful countryside is about a 10 mins drive. The sea is about a 30 mins drive. Here you will find miles of golden sands, with a backdrop of pine woods. The breathtaking Maremma National park is within an hour’s drive and a variety of activities are provided, such as Natural History treks and Night tours searching for wildlife. The beautiful Renaissance town of Siena is 45 minutes driveThere are also a number of charming old towns, spas, and churches all within easy reach and well worth visiting. Rome is about 90 minutes away by train. If you fancy a night or two in Venice, Rome, Pisa or Florence you can vary your arrival or departure point to combine a night or 2 in e.g. Rome - either before or after your stay.

Additional information about rental rates

  • During the High Season there is a flat rate of £650 p.w. for the house. In Low Season prices are as follows:- for 4 people (or less) - £500 p.w. , for 5 people - £500 p.w, for 6 people - £600 p.w. A non-refundable deposit of 25% is payable on booking, and the balance is due 8 weeks before departure. Payment is accepted by bank transfer (please note if any bank charges are incurred, these are to be paid by you). We also require a cash deposit on arrival of 300 euros which we hold against unacceptable breakages and damage, to be returned to you before your departure following a satisfactory inspection. The price is per week for the house. The price includes electricity,gas (n.b. not gas for central heating which is charged according to use) and linen (inc 3 towels per person). In High Season bookings are from Saturday – Saturday for a minimum one week stay. At other times we may be able to be flexible and will also consider part weeks - so do please contact us with your request.

Notes: The property - Every room has a view of the spectacular scenery, and two separate doors open on to the garden, which offers plenty of shade. The outside table seats 8 comfortably. Travel - Travelling to Roccatederighi is easy, either by plane or by car. The nearest airport is Pisa, which is 1.5 hours drive, mostly by motorway. There are many cheap charter flights to Pisa and Rome.There are a variety of ways for driving to this part of Italy and all of them interesting and scenic routes, through France, Switzerland or Germany. If you would like to discuss some of these routes please contact us.Whilst there is no swimming pool in the village, there is a lovely pool set in wonderful countryside about 10 mins drive away. Also, very popular with our guests, is a scenic lake,set in peaceful olive fields, about 25 minutes drive away.Here you can swim in the clear,cool waters which are fed by an underground stream. Within about half hour's drive you can bathe in a natural spa or the sea.

“ Chris – Thanks so much for letting us use your incredible place in Roccatederighi. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, in large part because we were able to return to your wonderful home at the end of our days in Rome, Florence, Siena & Pisa – and the beach and lake -and the boat trip to Elba! We ate in all the Rocca restaurants and met many of the locals and resident visitors, enjoying it all tremendously. Ricardo was great and provided us with excellent service and support getting our bags into and out of the village – we loved the fiat! We hope to be able to return one day. Let us know if you make your way to Atlanta or northern Florida.

Séjour typé, en plein cœur d'un bourg médiéval, au sommet d'un rocher. Une ambiance unique, dans un logement de très bon confort et bien équipé.
Merci à Chris pour cette découverte et à Riccardo, homme exceptionnellement dévoué et serviable.
Seul bémol, la température en plein été, jusqu'à 40°.
L'accès au gîte se fait via la vieille ville, magnifique mais peut être sportif en cas de forte chaleur.
Mais dans l'ensemble le gîte est splendide dans un décor extraordinaire et époustouflant.

We stayed here for a relaxing week on our travels across Itlay. It is in a lovely little village with very friendly locals and pretty much all the amenities (shops etc) that you need.
The house is beautiful and cormfortably accomodated my wife and I, our nanny and three children (10, 8, 8). It is very clean and well laid out and whilst in the old medevial village it is right at the end so it is very peaceful and has three private outdoor areas to sit and enjoy the outlook. You cant drive right to the door as the streets for the last few hundred metres are too narrow and this adds to the wonderful atmosphere.
The town is not at all touristy and provided a good base for looking around the areas. Some days we travelled by car as far as Pisa which was 2 hours away and on some days we just walked around the contryside which is very pretty.
There are some good local restaurants and the house has a great book full of guest comments which provides a helpful list of where to go, where to eats etc.
My dealings with the owners were very pleasant and they have Ricardo, a local person in the town, who is very kind and helpful - he even turned up with a little truck that fits up the lanes for our baggage on arrival and leaving.
A great place if you are looking to relax and look around.

A fantastic location, immersed in a friendly Italian community, surrounded by medieval architecture and a maze of purely pedestrianised alleyways and passages. Fantastic views towards the coast, the property is spacious, well equipped and very comfortable. Ricardo, the local bike shop owner provides a warm welcome, delivers your luggage and looks after the house.
