Photos and Description of this Assisi holiday villa Self catering villa with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, private pool. Sleeps 8.

Capanna, a luxury villa, is based on a watch tower four centuries old. Two tobacco barns were added later. It is built in an area designated as one of outstanding natural beauty. Etruscan sites are nearby. The villa has been converted to a high aesthetic standard by its designer owner, but it still retains its old character. Soaring wooden beamed ceilings and exposed stonewalls merge with cool terracotta and granite floors. It is tastefully furnished with a blend of contemporary and traditional styles. From the covered dining terrace 900m high Monte Acuto can be seen rising above the wooded hills. A large distinctive private swimming pool with travertine paving is set on a terrace and has breathtaking views. The grounds have different levels of paving with extensive plantings of cypress, cherry, olive trees, acanthus, yuccas, etc. Wooden shutters keep the house nice and cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Log stoves, plus CH, make house suitable for all year self catering.

Close proximity to major historical sites at Assisi, Perugia, Cortona, Lake Trasimeno, Gubbio and Piero della Francesca country, etc. Rome and Florence are also about 2 hours' drive away. Villa is well positioned in secluded spot on side of hills of Monte Corona, but with very easy access (about 500 metres) to made up tarmac road. About 4km away is the dual carriageway E45 which runs up the spine of Umbria/Tuscany. For local shops, restaurants and weekly market, there is Umbertide and the smaller PierAntonio. There are some outstanding restaurants in the area which serve excellent food at reasonable prices. The house is suitable for all year self-catering rental.

Notes: House is in secluded but accessible location. Soaring dining hall has large table + chairs seating 8, with access to outside terrace with further table and chairs for eating al fresco. Large galley kitchen is extremely well equipped with quality appliances, granite worktops. Sitting room has access to another terrace with lovely views. Also has log fired stove. On ground floor, 1 bedroom has 2 single beds. Another large bedroom has double bed, walk-in closet, and en-suite shower room with WC and washbasin. There's a separate bathroom, tiled top to bottom in travertine, with bath & shower screen, WC and basin. In separate part of house is laundry room + washing machine. First floor has l spacious bedroom with double bed and another large bedroom with queen-size bed, walk-in closet and en-suite shower room with WC and basin. Large Pool set on terrace. House about 25 kms from Assisi, Perugia, Lake Trasimeno. Arezzo, Cortona, Gubbio, Siena all easy to reach. Many wonderful restaurants.

Places of interest.: Capanna is about equal distance away from Assisi, one of Italy's most atmospheric towns, and Perugia, another splendid medieval city - an art lover's dream with works by Fra Angelico, Piero della Francesca and Perugino. Gubbio is also close by with its famous festival dei ceri in May. South-west of us is Lake Trasimeno, the Umbrian 'Riviera' - perfect for swimming, boating and water sports. Also within easy reach are Arezzo, Citta di Castello, Cortona, Siena

Food and restaurants.: We have some superb restaurants close to hand, ranging from cheap family run trattorias serving traditional Italian fare to stylish slow-food restaurants with delicious locally grown food. Smaller towns such as Pierantonio and Umbertide have weekly local markets with fresh, cheap, local produce. With a local licence, you can shoot pheasant and other birds from our land as we are in the middle of a game reserve! Or you could just watch them, along with local wild boar.

We've stayed in this villa twice, and both times have had a fantastic time. The house is well appointed and maintained. I am very fussy and found it spotless when we arrived. The decor is a tasteful mix of modern and period and has real character.
While it is reasonably close to the nearby town, it is isolated enough to feel that you can get away from everything. The views are stunning and there are several different spots in which you can enjoy an evening aperitivo from. Perugia is a wonderful city, with many lively restaurants, bars and shops. Lake Trasimeno, nearby, is also a good spot for kids to enjoy watersports etc.
The owners were very helpful when arranging the booking/payment and replied to emails promptly. They also gave us very good recommendations, directions etc.

Fantastic villa!

This villa was absolutely fantastic. We spent there our honeymoon! The description on the website is very accurate, there is plenty of space of 8 people in the house, and the outside areas are great. The house was really clean and very well maintained. It's a very beautiful and quiet location, a great place to enjoy nature and silence. The gardens have beautiful and very well kept plants where you can also find all kind of aromatic herbs. The swimming pool is great, big enough for quite a few people and really clean with plenty of sunbeds and tables and chairs. It was a pity we couldn't use it as the weather was quite bad the week we stayed there. The villa is very easy to find with the very detailed directions the owners provide. It's close to Perugia, Assisi and many other beautiful towns in Umbria, only about 30 min by car. We had a family lunch at the house the day before our wedding and everyone really enjoyed the location and the beautiful views. The house itself has everything you would need to cook, enjoy yourself, there are books, games which we enjoyed playing, cd player, etc... The great thing is that we find UK plugs and also standard eu ones so you don't really need adaptors. The owners have been very helpful all the time and they have provided all the information we needed. We didn't try any restaurants in the area but there are many good ones in Assisi, Gubbio, Perugia, etc... I have recommeded it to all my friends and no doubt we will be back again!! It's a great spot to tour the area and have a few quite and relaxing days!

stunning and peaceful location

My friends and I had a wonderful holiday here this summer.

The accommodation was excellent and the views of the surrounding countryside were spectacular. The location is very peaceful and we felt we had plenty of privacy but were a short drive from amenities. It was also a great base for trips to surrounding towns such as Assisi and Perugia.

The villa is tastefully decorated and is very spacious - the beautiful garden is enormous with its own pool.

The owners were very helpful throughout. Prior to our stay they made some great recommendations which made for a marvellous holiday. We will definitely return!

Luxurious villa nestled in beautiful countryside!

Every member of our group (total of eight adults/young adults) thoroughly enjoyed the comfort and respite of this beautiful country home. The pool was an added plus for the 18-20 year olds! Convenient to many sightseeing areas yet quiet and tucked away. We were able to take numerous day trips to destinations such as Assissi, Florence, the market in Gubbio, Cortona, Montepulciano and a wonderful cooking class in Perugia.

The villa is nicely appointed throughout ... in every way. Even though we had a large group the villa never felt cramped for space.

The owners are a delight to work with, were accomodating to our needs and responded promptly to all correspondence.

We look forward to returning soon!
