Understanding Umbria:
Umbria is famous for its contrasts, stunning food, a rich tapestry of medieval towns, wonderful lake side beaches, brilliant walking and moutain climbing, couled with all the traditional images of Italy such as fields full of sun flowers and meadows awash with wold flowers. The people, not suffering too much from the influences of the cities are very welcoming and don't take an eternity to deliver your first beer after a long hot walk!
Local Help:
The house is managed by 'Patrizia' and her three daughters who live just round the hill. Patrizia is a qualified walking guide and can take you on some wonderful routes through the best of Tuscany and Umbria. Her daughters are all excellent cooks who are happy to cater for lunches or dinners on request. They all speak English and are very willing to help.
The Climate:
On the whole the region enjoys very comfortable weather. When is does get too hot Casivieri is situated up in the hills benefitting from the cool evening breeze.
The walls of the house are roughly four feet thick and all the windows are shuttered. On hot days the interior stays very cool allowing for pleasant uninterrupted sleep.
